BHT and I both had 800+ crank tq when our tiptronics failed and its gears 3 and 4 that fail, not 1st...

On another note, the GT-R had launch control, unlike the 996. The first version would allow the car to rev up to ~4500+ and take off...that has to be at or almost at full boost...the revised the program to drop it to ~3,000 RPM.

You can not BRAKE launch a tip 996TT above 2300RPM unless you modify the brakes (minimal impact) or the torque converter...and launching it at this RPM gives you barely 0.2 bar of boost so not too much stress on the car

At one time, I considered adding a line lock. I know I could have cut killer 60' times.

I have a 05 TTS, EPL, Sachs stage 2 clutch, and DVs and am wondering what it would actually do 0-60. The stock 05 TTS does it in 3.8-4.0 depending on which reference source I use. Any thoughts? has anyone timed his own 0-60?
Best I could do was a 4.1s with my 6 sp. The car only had a flash back then. 0-60 is almost irrelevant on these cars since they are so quick. The difference between a good time and a lousy time is only about 1 sec! The times are hugely dependant on your launch skill and lesser dependance on shift skill. The stock tips could probably beat most modded 6 speeds.

Yeah the 6spd is very hard to launch. My E55 made the same power on the same dyno as my 996tt and it was about a 800 pounds heavier. I cut a 3.00 0-60mph on that car on DRs which is .8- to .9 faster then my best on the Turbo. I have yet to try the turbo on drag radials.

BHT was the king of drag racing in Houston; his car was beating higher hp cars. It was one of the most impressive Tips I have seen (not in person) and it was running K16/16.
