Finished my 2 switch garage door opener and IPOD hookup

Did a couple of Sunday projects:

1st was I put 2 switches in the center console and wired them to each garage door. Also lit the switches by wiring them to the window switches. I think it looks pretty cool and works great (see pictures

2nd was to hook up the IPOD connection. I did not like the CD player behind the face plate. I did not have the CD changer so this plugs into the same connectors. Works great too and now I saved the money as I will not buy a new stereo. This does the trick for me as I think it sounds not too bad.

I was thinking about getting the ash tray delete in black and putting it in my savanna beige console. I don't think black will look too bad but not sure. I have also seen some in carbon fiber but not sure how that would look with beige.

Wow, interested in how you did the ipod connection... What year is your car? 01-02 (pre MOST)?

It was the iWireP-220-35MM - my car is a 2002 pre most. This connector works great. You can do a google search.

Mark great idea with the garage door switches. Where did you get the buttons from?

Do you have any pictures of how the ipod setup looks?

I got the buttons from suncoast. I cant take credit for the mod as I learned it on the forum (although I haven't seen 2 buttons for 2 garage doors).

Here is the link to the buttons - choose the targa top/garage door switch:

Here are some IPOD pics....

The IPOD connector is the blue plug - I think it took less than an 1/2 hour to install.

I soldered the wires to the contact points for the opener. If you use a paper clip and touch the points on the underside od the button on the remote you can tell wich points activate the opener. You then solder to these points.

Yes - you need special keys that insert into the stereo with the faceplate taken off. It pulls out in seconds with this tool. The IPOD cable came with the keys.
