Carbon Fiber Dual Intake System!
After so many mods I've given up on claiming I can actually tell this or that.
Agree w/johnspeed it just makes sense. I've had the box and snorkle for some time....BTW an OE rubber seal works fine on the left snorkle....snugs things up and matches right.
Only issue I have w/the kit is the rear anchor 'L' bracket is a bit light weight and engine vibration will eventually snap it......I've shot the question to Vivid whether replacements can be sourced.

Hey guys,Basic 101 high Performance is that more 'surface area' on any intake helps, which 2 ducts are better then1,,,,Plus getting air in 2 ducts over 1 duct is better because it is more volume and would be a cooler charge compared to 1 duct moving air flow in..Why did Porsche change the 997 turbos set-up to two??....When I had stock set -up,I could feel that the air temp was alot warmer radiating out of just that 1 duct when the car was at idle,,,,then with the 2 ducts air radiating out of them...How many products do you guys buy for your cars, that even cost way more..lol..., that never had dyno sheets to prove what that product helped??......Yes you can hear the woosh of air alot clearer with this set-up.....BUT...Its anyones guess how much you would gain....Thay depends on the weather temps, motor combination and the volume of air the rear part of the airbox can flow....Just my thoughts.....

The point of increasing inlet area or airbox volume is to reduce static pressure drop at the turbo inlet. Obviously keeping temps close to ambient via ducting is a plus as well. I'm not sure I buy the whole "forcing air into the airbox at speed" thing. With the 996tt wing deployed, there sould be a lower pressure region at the engine cover louvers. I'll try the old yarn test on my car to see what's going on.
FWIW, AMS independently tested this airbox and saw a 0.5psi increase at the turbo inlet and a corresponding ~10hp gain at the 600rwhp (dynojet) level (running the same boost level). https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ml#post2768961
IMO, that's in the noise for a DJ (1.6% change) and would make this an aesthetic mod for most. Pretty though!
Yes,I wish they would come out with a heavier bracket...Theirs have broken a few times and I had to order new ones........Also IMO,I can not believe that this air box of mine,Vivid, increased .5 boost...I did not see it on my car and I pay attention to everything I do .You have an airfilter,no matter what kind, that would stop any pressure forced into that airbox within reason.Try taking an air filter and blowing air pressure threw it,,and that pressure would be still alot more then generated buy our back end dynamics...Plus before the air gets to the turbos, there is a lot of piping to slow it down.......Just my thoughts

I'm talking about pre-turbo head (pressure) losses, not boost pressure. Boost pressure should remain the same, but with less head loss, the turbos will have less work to do to pressurize the air to some target boost level. This will result in a more efficient air compression (less Tout) and more power. And no, an airfilter doesn't "stop pressure", but it does have a pressure loss associated with it (the smaller the better). A higher pressure pre-filter will result in a higher pressure at the turbo inlet (the goal of a good airbox).
Hi,Sorry to disagree with you BUT try to blow air threw a air fliter an you will not get alot of that pressure threw it...The advantage of the bigger surface air filter area is that it can PULL more air threw it easier and hopefully have more cool air on that bigger area.....
Just like motocycles pressurized air boxes,,at low speed they can not help push air threw a filtered system, for the same reason,,,To work it takes a high rate of speed, over 100mph at least to start help and that goes straight into the intake track.I know this for a fact because I have some experience in this area, for what its worth here......Thats also alot more pressure then the air pressure that is coming over decks and into the engine compartment
Anyways, I think this airbox would be a good mod if you're on the ragged edge with your turbos (flashed K16s come to mind) +the aesthetics and maybe sound? and lifetime warranty
