Battery Charger?
Battery Charger?
Any recommendations for a car that seems to be sitting a lot lately? The battery is dead every time I want to drive it! Is there a good one that works through the cigarette lighter? That seems so much easier than direct battery connect...
Ari, just a simple "battery tender jr" " I've used it since 2005 on motorcycle and cars and it did the job for only $40.00 !!!! And here (Montreal) we got -35 C to +40C and it works like a charm....

Got the Porsche one (made in Finland of all places) from Suncoast. Includes cig adaptor and clamps. BTW not a good idea to let your battery fully drain and then recharge over and over. Chemical deposits form on the plates and kill your battery prematurely.

Yep, great little charger with auto shutoff and spark suppressor. I just leave my bonnet up and disconnect it when I am ready to roll. If you are charging, should have it up anyway to make sure hydrogen does not build up and get a boom!
I use the Porsche Techquipment one that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Had it since 3 years, easy to use, never any problems.

+1 battery tender junior. Does the job fine. My car sits for awhile at a time as well. I just leave it plugged in all the time and just unplug it before I take the car out. Really you are probably fine with any nubmer of battery chargers as long as it has the float feature.
Thanks for all the feedback. I'll look to pick one up locally tomorrow. All things equal, I'd love to get one that plugs into the cig lighter. Seems much easier than having to pop open the hood, remove the plastic, etc... just don't think all that stuff is designed for a weekly "cycle".
