He mentioned recently that he hadnt been actively trying to sell it...but that when/if he does he wants a powerboat...I think he said he was looking at a 24' Baja Outlaw.

They have been talking about it in the "AMG ETR For Sale" thread in the FS section.

I am thinking reserve is around $125K (he said he was open to offers around $130k)

The bike is a lot of fun yes

Are you getting a Baja? I am looking to get a Baja as well, the smallest outlaw though, I dont need a big boat, they start at like 25K and look very hot, anyone here has had any experience with Baja, are they good boats? and most importantly how reliable are they?

Right now its between a Baja 33' Outlaw (Twin Supercharged 502's ~975HP) and a Donzi 33ZX (Twin Supercharged 496HO ~1225HP). Pops isn't 100% sold on the idea, but I am working on it, seems like a waste to live down here and not have a boat when we had one in crappy NY..... Baja's are GREAT boats, we had a 2000 33' Outlaw with Twin 502's and it was nothing but a pleasure. Not one problem, always ran like a champ and was undefeated on our lake (including beating Formula's, a fountain, checkmate, etc., etc.)

They ended up going back on their quote and wanting 1K more for the job so we said screw that...
Nothing will replace it sadly. Since my parents work from home I am the only one the drives these days!! That car has been here for 2 months and over 500 mlies on that car are from me!! We only need a truck and car for me so thats what we are trying to do...
Evan
PS- Maybe an exotic garage queen for the future, but an SL55 is deff. not a garage queen and should not just sit and lose value

I don't mean to be a jerk but Bajas are not the best in the offshore powerboat world. I know a lot about boats (my dad has owned several boat companies) and I grew up learning about all the major pleasure boat companies and Baja has a pretty bad rep. The reason Baja sells so many boats is simple; Price. They are the cheapest high speed boats you can buy. With that being said for a lot of people Bajas are fine. If you want a cheap boat that is fast and your not really going to pound on it too hard you will probaly be ok. If you want a GOOD offshore powerboat look into cigarette and fountain. Cigarette is really expensive. One of my best friends owns the Cigarette dealer for all of the midwest and is friends with the owner of the companie and everything. Cigarette was started by Don Arnoe the God of powerboats. Without Don Arnoe there would be no offshore boats. If you want the best and you are willing to pay for it Cigarette is the way to go. If you want to spend a little bit less money, but you want decent quality go with fountain. Fountain hold pretty much all the mono-haul speed records and they have one fast haul! They are a bit more of a high-production boat than the Cigarette but you gain from that in the price arena. I would definatly look into Fountaina nd Cigarette before you make a move on a fountain and talk to some powerboat owners locally that have owned Fountains and Cigarettes!

Feel free to PM if you have any questions.

Its crazy how a lot of people rag on Baja's... Like I said in another thread show me a 33' boat that will do 80MPH for under 150K... Baja's are not built cheap, actually quite the opposite! They are VERY well built (we had a 33' outlaw and POUNDED on it with not one problem). The reason some do not like them is they are the "mass producers" of the offshore world. A lot of the same boat, same graphics, etc. so there is no exclusitivity. The boat is VERY solid, Fast, and would buy one again in a heart beat... You can't throw Cigarette into someones world who is looking at a Baja because they are double if not more... And fountain.. they need to update the boats a bit, Miami Vice went out about 10 years ago...

Why should Fountain update when their sales are the best they have had in years. I have nothing against Baja its just common knowledge that they are inferior in quality to both Fountain and Cigarette. I live an hour away from the Baja factory and its on the way to my dads house and I have been there a number of times and trust me they are not the same as Fountains or Cigarettes. I could care less about their production numbers I like Boston Whaler and they build more boats the Baja ever will but they still maintain the quality they had when they started. Baja on the other hand never had good quality and thus they have always had the cheapest boats which is why they have such high production. Basically Baja is a corvette its probaly good enough but not the best. Fountain is Porsche, they are crazy fast and very well built. Cigarette is like a Ferrari not as fast the the fountain(Porsche) but very rare and exotic. Guys I dont have any of these boats but I know a lot about all of them. Boats have been a huge part of my life since I was born we have owned around 6-10 boats at any given time since I was born to. Believe me when I say that I am just trying to help you guys out. I know a lot about this subject and take my advice however you want. I am not trying to be a ***** and act like Bajas are terrible boats or anything but they simply cannot compare to the others mentioned.
