GT2 pre purchase question.

Hello

I found an amazing deal on a 02 GT2 Gembella w/less 55k miles, auto, never tracked and clean title.

Check site: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e&rdpage=thumb

I spoke to the owner and this is what he had to say about his GT2:

Gemballa USA Custom Built 2002 Porsche GT2 Turbo, Lapis Blue
550 HP(Modifications and custum tuning were done 6 months ago).

Previous 5 owners(2 lease return and 3 pvt)

Accident to the right front quarter panel w/no frame damage. Repaired by Gembella in LA

Custom Tuned Exhaust, Quad Tips, Carbon Fiber Rear Wing & Front Spoiler
Hand Built One-of-a-kind 3 Piece Deep-Dish Forged Wheels - Powder Coated Matte Black (not painted)

No RMS issues

No warranty

I will do a PPI, before purchase.

Should I pull the trigger?

Any feed back will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Not a GT2.

GT2 has RWD, not AWD.

GT2 only came with 6 speed.

Standard Turbo AWD car with Auto Trans.

Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are standard on the GT2, this car has regular Turbo brakes.

Just by putting "GT2" in the title of the car leads me to be wary of the seller, even if the car has a Gemballa body kit.

I'd also want to see all receipts for all of the work done to support the 550hp claim as thats about he limit on an X50 K24 car without upgrading the turbos themselves.

I'd probably let this one pass, too many unknowns.

Just my .02

Seems like I remember this one around on the classifieds when I was looking. The only things that I can see that makes it "Gemballa" are some of the aesthetic and the stickers.

Seems like a party girl.

As commented, either the seller is a moron or liar. Which is better? Maybe too harsh, lets say 'uninformed' or 'a real salesman'.

Which means EVERYTHING else he says is of zero value. 'repaired by gemball'? Lets see the actual work order. Minor damage, no frame? Lets see pictures... you get the idea, caught out in a lie and everything else- no matter how slight- must be independently verified.

I'd pass. Heck, its a tip.

I wish we had better news for you man. , But some stickers and body panels do not a GT2 make, or anything Gemballa for that matter.

However, at the price you're looking at, you can have a nice, lower mileage, 996 Turbo that you can mod the crap out of and have a ton left over from what you would have paid for the GT2. Just something to think about.

Keep us posted on what you're finding out there. We can be a good resource for info and suggestions.
