New guy - need radio help

Hello all,

I just purchased one of my dream cars. It is a 2001 Black on black, carbon package, navi, heated seats, etc. I drove the car away from the dealership today and was to in awe to even bother turning on the radio. Half way through my drive I decided to turn it on...to no avail. Now the dealership said it worked. I got home and pulled the radio and noticed the fuse was blown, also noticed that the ground wire was nearly broken off of the radio cage. I installed a new fuse and found a new spot on the cage to place that wire. However, when I go to turn the radio on still nothing. Any advice would greatly be appreciated!

My car's new home:

sorry for the crappy photos it was dark when I got home.

Thanks in advance!

-Matt

It sounds like you only checked and replaced the fuse located on the stereo itself. Although my '01 does not have nav, it has a fuse on the back of the unit as well. However, there is also another fuse located on the fuse panel in the driver's side footwell. The fuse on my car is located on Row D, fuse #8, but you can double check the chart located on the inside of the black fuse panel cover. Try checking this and see if it helps solve your problem.

check the fuse in the back and in the panel. you will also likely need the radio code.

Thank you for all of your responses! I checked D8 and D9 and they seemed fine, I bought a fuse tester today so I will be testing all of them. I'm hoping this is just a fuse problem and not a fried unit or bad wiring.

Just to finish off this thread because I hate reading a thread that doesn't end. The other blown fuse ended up being E5, which according to the fuse chart is the infosystem. ::shrugs:: now...to get that damn radio code!

thanks all!
