Hi guys. I'm new on here. I've been eying a 996tt for about 8 years now. I have a S2000 which I love but it's time to start looking for my first love.
I'm currently renting and I have a really nice parking structure in a safe neighborhood. I was wondering if anyone has a Pcar that rents? If so, what has your experience been with the general public and how they treat it? I understand there a lot of variables attached to this question and the majority of people are inconsiderate, but have you found that they treat your supercar differently?

Honestly, especially in the US, there are probably more that are renting than will openly admit it.
There are a lot of places that you can rent that are a bit upper scale that will also have, either an attached or detached garages, that will be included or available for a little more per month.

I'm in St Louis. I'm locked into my lease and they don't offer any garages that you're talking about although that would be great.
I honestly really like where I live and feel like the place is safe enough that no one would try breaking in/stealing it. I was just wondering what people's experiences were like.

2nd. Especially when you consider the amount of time you have to stay under a house without being upside down. If you don't plan on being tied to a location for up to ten years buying a house is a huge risk.

I don't rent -- but I also don't see the connection between renting and what car you have. (At first, I thought you were talking about renting the car
). There are places to own where you wouldn't want to park a nice car, and there are places to rent that are perfectly safe and secure (and visa versa). These days (with the challenging housing market), it can be more financial sound to rent something. To me, it's similar to whether you lease or buy your car.

I rent. I don't feel dealing with having to buy and sell a house every 3-4 years, especially in this market. But I'll make sure any place I do rent has adequate garage parking for the 996 ;-)

Are rental properties of a lower standard in the US? Here lots of people rent, especially if you are in London where any 2 bed apartment in a good area will be >$1m. I would think it matters much more if the area is nice rather than if you rent or not.
I totally agree. Having sold my house and now renting I felt that it was a better risk to NOT have money tied into a home that was literally draining my finances. I have less money going out and more money to invest in more prudent investments. There are plenty of short sales around,,, and more to come. This market is completely sideways and the sub-prime debacle has not ended. A one hundred dollar extra per month garage is nothing when considering the potential risk of being under water.
Actually, no! With the huge amounts of "defaults" and people actually leaving or being forced out of their long-term homes because of falling property values, there are and have always been quality rental environments that more than satisfy a reasonable neighbourhood to live in and around with the same if not more amenities than before, i.e., swimming pools, exercise equipement, near active shopping centers and lifestyles, etc., etc. The options are excellent.

The apt complex is great and when I moved in there were two F430s parked on the top floor.

why not move to ca and rent my old house it's yours for two grand a month. 2000 sq ft ,pool two car gararge two fire places 1 block street no traffic, and the commute to ny, it's only minutes in a porsche
where in Cali is your rental property?...not to hijack this thread
