They are totally different Bikes.. The BMW S1000RR is an exercise in utter, excessive brutality as far as the engine.. there's just nothing I have ever experienced like the hit it produces as you get to 11,000 rpm all the way to 14,200 rpm, especially with my full race pipe and power commander with custom map. Below 9,000 rpm, it's just like any other Liter Bike. It handles really well for a 440 lb sportbike and the brakes are phenomenal. Race traction control, abs, wheelie control (all of which can be turned off).

The 675R is a scalpel.. 250cc GP Bike geometry, instantaneous turn-in, massive amounts of ground clearance, LIGHT!!!!, changes direction telepathically, brakes are just as good as the BMW's, the triple engine makes great torque and sounds orgasmic as you get to 10,000 rpm, all the way to it's 15,000 rpm redline. In the flesh, this might be the most beautiful Motorcycle ever as far as I'm concerned and I have owned a few Ducatis etc, including a 998R.

Both of them are brilliant in their own right...

I wash my clothes, she washes hers... Division of labor. Hell, as long as she cleans out the Cat box, I don't care..

Thumbs up You have issues...

[quote=80shilling;3203321]I have been riding the new BMW S1000RR with full Akrapovic EVO Ti race system and Power Commander V with Dan Kyle's map (it's parked next to my GT2 in the pictures).. 198.3 RWHP!!! Freaking absurdly, lunatic, freakishly fast... Even 5 months into riding it, it still scares the living cr@p out of me when it hits 9,000 rpm and I am the most jaded HP junkie you will ever meet. The way my Bike is just now, it picked up 17 RWHP at 7,000 rpm and it power wheelies all the way through the first 4 gears , I can get it to wheelie in 6th at 11,000 rpm if I hit a small bump.... 14,200 rpm redline, amazingly good handling, best brakes on any Motorcycle I have ridden.

I WANT ONE TOO !!!

Every time I drive a potential replacement for the GT2, it just doesn't have what I need. The McLaren is like the Nissan GTR.. just too much techology, no 6 speed, too much done for the driver.. Is it fast?? hell yes, but not very involving. Coming from racing Motorcycles and Shifter Karts my whole life, I need something that keeps me involved and challenged. That's the lure of Liter class Sport Bikes for me.... Brutal, yet they need a really delicate touch to get the best out of them... same as the GT2.. subtle things make a difference and the driver/rider is EVERYTHING.

I have tried to like the Ferrari Scuderia (have to rev the snot out of it to get it going, plus no 6 speed), the GT3 RS (amazing car, but I miss the Turbo thrust of the GT2), the Gallardo Super Leggera (don't like the all whhel drive) same goes for the Audi R8's (although theu have one of the best 6 speed gearboxes I have ever used).. The Ferrari 599 GTO appeals, but it's a GT Car, not a sports car. The Nissan GTR was a Car I thought might do it, but it's just too fat and heavy and just doesn't feel connected to the road and the interior is horrible and all the technology makes me shudder to think how many things could potentially go wrong (I make my living in IT Consulting, so I know exactly how badly wrong tech can go ...).

Guess I will stick with the GT2 for a while.. It's a beast, it gives me goosebumps when I drive it hard, it has something no other Car I have driven gives me, which is a sense that there is always something left in the Car, no matter how hard I drive it. Every lap of Laguna Seca, I learn something more about how to eke out another tenth of a second out of it.. I watch videos of what Walter Rohrl and Leh Keen can do with it and I know I can spend the next 20 years driving it and still have much to learn.

Got to admit I freaking LOVE my GT2...

That is a GREAT review of the GT2. Arguably the best I have read. Great bike too. I looked at those last year when I was shopping for a hot new bike. For the price, I don't think you can beat it. If that same bike were made in Italy it would cost three times as much.
