Just for Tyson...
Hey bud, just 'cos I value your experience and opinion on this whole TT v GT2 thing having owned both etc.. I wanted to ask you this (in case it gets lost in the F-car thread). Ya know one thing I will say about the TT and GT2 comparo is this... I love the GT2 to bits but I _was_ suprised that both GT2s in the shoot out didn't SPANK the TT's seeing as they were driven by real pros... In fact only James' GT2 split the back by 0.3 seconds ahead of the rest (although Johannes was slowest in it). If I remember rightly everyone posted between 1.45 and 1.46 for lap times right? The SCARGO GT2 had double adjustable suspension (some serious power also) and yet only beat my car by .09 or something and my car didn't even have a functioning MAF which meant I had NO ABS so Darren had to take it easier out there with mine.
I just thought I'd bring this up since both of those drivers are VERY good and also used to driving RWD cars like GT3s as a job yet the AWD pig heavy turbos did perform remarkbly well. I think there's a lot to be said for that....
Sorry it's late and I'm rambling...
PS I forgot to add my car had the JRZ/ERP set up as did James' GT2 and SCARGO's GT2 had ProTrack and Stu's had Motons.

Sharky, I wasn't out there so I couldn't tell you. But from what I understand most of the Turbos, including yours, were much more powerful than the GT2's? I also don't know about each car's setup, etc.
I would also think that differences between both cars would depend on the particular circuit layout. Also, what would you consider spanking on a course that is short enough to finish in 1:45 or 1:46?
I am not really sure what you are asking, but considering you have JRZ's, ERP links, and monoballs, obviously it will handle well. I also know that you have taken out some weight in the car, so the gap narrows as well.
One thing that James has not done yet is do the GT3-RS uprights. Had he had those, it might have been a different result.
Yes, both van Overbeek and Law are excellent drivers, however, they are more used to driving NA cars than Turbo ones. I think a better comparison would be with a rally driver (since WRC has mostly Turbo cars) or someone like Walter Rohrl who drives Turbo cars all the time.
If there was a Koro 4.6 or 4.9L GT3 there, I think that would have easily kicked *** out there given the drivers.
But like I said, I wasn't there, so I don't know. All I can say is that I still like the GT2 more than the Turbo. But seeing as how you are comparing modded cars, I'm not really sure if your comparison is really fair.
If James' car had the same turbo/engine setup as yours, that's the only way to really compare.

I'm with you though, having driven both, I prefer the GT2 but I just expected it to spank our TTs is all. I know it's not quite an apples to apples comparison and I know stock v stock there's no contest but they were all similairly modded (give or take a few HP) so I guess what I'm saying or "thinking" is that once modded the gap between the two cars narrows somewhat. I think the GT2 stock comes with really good suspension but the TT's is just pure junk. Throw that out and things get a little more even...
Having Rohl do it wouldn't have been optimal yes
I doubt he'd care about a US *****-size comparison tho lol.
Sharky, also remember that there is still more you could do to the GT2 suspension than JRZ's and links.
How about, for example, if you retrofit all the GT3-RS parts in there with the JRZ shocks? Those parts will not fit a 996TT. How about a really refined package like Guy's Nardo?
Then we're talking about a larger difference. Seeing as how James' car had the best lap time with lowest HP, it's tempting to think that big HP in a GT2 may have hurt S-Car-Go's performance.

Either way it's definately interesting and I have my eye on a GT2

One thing I forgot to add that I absolutely do not like about either the X50 or the GT2 is the use of K24s. I hate those turbos as they lag too much... I prefer some kind of hybrid/Garret quick spooling deal but then again I am ghetto...
