The factory pre cat sensors are Bosch wideband sensors with the proper 996TT type connector. You can buy a direct fit no wiring needed sensor from any Autozone type store under for under $100. Don't pay a premium for a box with a Porsche emblem.

Porsche PN: 996 606 128 00
Bosch PN: 17044

Edit: Post cat O2s are as follows

Porsche PN: 99660613801
Bosch PN: 16205

Are you doing all 4 or just the 2 pre cat? Also, one more thing I thought of after you left, A few years ago I needed a wide band 02 for an AFR meter I had. Bought a VW o2 from dealer for under $50.00.

Just the precat sensors. The post cats are only for cat efficiency.

Yeah, 99% of the bosch wideband O2s are the same. The difference is what connector is on the end specific for the actual car it is being installed in and the part number stamped on it.

LSU 4 series is what our car has. Not sure if it is 4.2 or what .x number it is. And to further clarify on my previous claim of sensors being the same not every wideband is the identical. But, even if the sensor is a splice in type generic sensor that is compatible with a particular car that means it is the same series and type. And the Porsche series and type is not exclusive. That type is most likely used on a handfull or more different cars. Just with different plugs on the end for that particular car.

I already shared this on my misfire thread, but thought I would ad it here for continuity. I changed both primary O2 sensors today. The car is running great now. No more wierd hunting at idle or misfires. I am still baffled by the fact that I was reading misfires on only cylinders 1 and 2 with the bad O2s, but stranger things have happened. I previously mentioned that the Bosch ones are the cheapest option and are a direct no wiring needed swap. I ended up ordering them from Advanced auto parts for $92 a piece(Bosch USA PN: 17044) and here is what I found to my surprise when I looked at the sensors.

Note the 996 part number directly on the sensor. They are exactly like what I pulled off the car. So add this to your notes when it comes O2 sensor time. I added the Bosch OEM part number information for the primaries and secondaries in the knowledge forum.

Is the Bosch 17044 plug and play or do we have to get the porsche part number for the correct connector...

And another find... our axles are from VW Transporter !!!!! take down 50% from porsche price, i can look for PN if anybody interested
