Gear change problem

I drove my car this morning and everything was fine. Drove it again an hour later and shifting gears became more and more sluggish. Clutch feels fine, but changing gears feels like shifting through thick mud. Very difficult to engage gears. I limped it home. Check for leaks and found none. Any thoughts on the problem?
Thanks for the help.

Short shifter is installed. I'll check it. Thanks.

Pull the boot up and remove the cross bolt the shifter handle pivots on to check it. No need to remove the center consul.
