Any problems after lowering

Hey everyone.

Im trying to lower my car and i purchased some h&r lowering springs. I spoke to my dealer and they stated that i could have some warning lights and suspension problems after this is complete.

Anyone done this and did you have any troubles.... Ie codes or lights on the dash

thanks

I have never been a huge fan of installing springs without upgrading the shocks at the same time.

You should look into the Porsche X73 suspension. This is a suspension kit with springs and shocks. It gives a lowered ride height along with much improved handling. They also come with stiffer motor mounts.

Many people on here have their car lowered with no issues whatsoever.

I can believe this -- I have some challenges with driveways around here and my car is stock height.

From what I see, H&R Springs lower the car about 1-1.25" ?

I am curious if you would need Toe-Links to offset for that lowering spec.

i just bought some H&Rs also, ive been searching, some people say you need adjustable toe links, some say that the car has enough adjustment to get you back to stock alignment. I guess i am just going to try it, and if i cannot get it dialed in, i will opt for the toe link kit.

I'm with u on the toe links. Hopefully I don't need them but something tells me I will

The dealer told me this and I think they are trying to scare me into some bilsteins. I really want to do this but I'm worried about any suspension sensors or possible codes.

For lack of better words, screw it I'm all in
I will do it probably Friday I will update then
If anyone has some advise I'm all ears

Guys, just did this. H&R and everything. The only thing I needed was DogBones which I purchased from Alex at Sharkwerks. I tried to align without but it wouldn't reach oem alignments specs for USA 996TT (-1.4 or similar). It started at -3 after the springs were installed and we could get the camber down to -1.9 (GT3 and GT2 area) but the toe would start to go.

The dogbones did the trick.... not sure how much clearer this could be. This happen to me less than 2 months ago and we are all good. Alignment done at Porsche dealership before and after dogbones. Car handles great. I don't track it but the ride is good considering the car is lowered as mentioned in the above posts. I just have to angle it in a little more when approaching driveways, gas stations, etc.

Best of luck,
Bryan

Forgot to tell you, all of these issues were in the rear... the front wasn't a problem. We ended up with -.5 or -.6... not bad.

No, I did it with a friend (who knew newer porsches) and it took less than 3 hours to install. 3 hours started after car was on jack stands and all wheels were off all the way to driving the car out of the garage to check how low it went. This didn't include the install of the dogbones... I waited to see if I needed them and then purchased.

Make sure to drive for a few days and let sit for a week prior to aligning to compensate for settling. The dogbones cost more than the springs but were a work of art.

PM me your email if you need pictures. I also have a Cabrio which may of made it harder or easier to install the rears... not sure, I've never worked on a coupe.

This is clearly a better solution. The springs only are compromise situation on a very expensive car. Labor costs and alignment will be the same with the X73 package. It's just the cost of parts.

I have a set of H&R springs, part number 29385 that I took off my car when I installed PSS10s. I will give them away for free to locals or for the price of shipping anywhere in the world.

I can take paypal or CC for shipping. Just get them off my office floor.

I'll take the springs if you don't need them. Sent a PM as well. Thanks.
