are all K16 billets the same?
are all K16 billets the same?
just wondering if all the K16 BILLET wheel turbos are the same... are they all the samy style wheel? or do some work better then others....correct me if I am wrong but I recall AMS as having the most HP gain from their K16 billets.. I am looking to do the K16 billets on my own 996tt TIP, but a friend asked my if there are difference's between the K16 billets? He might want to do the same turbo upgrade I am thinking of.. Thanks again guys...
LOL!
Seriously, I think AMS had the most hp because they had the most additional mods to the car. I think any of them are capable of making too much power for your tip so why does it matter? Just get the one who's tuner makes you feel the best when you talk to them.
You're in Florida, so neither are close, but if there is a preferred installer for one of them near you, that would be your best bet for support and troubleshooting.

just do it man! you have to remember, each dyno is going to be different. The only way to get a fair reading is to have each tuner use the same dyno, with the same tune, same atmospheric conditions, same everything really, except for the different k16 billett turbos.
It seems that you have asked the same questions time and time again, if you pull the trigger(does not matter which manufacturer) i am sure you are going to see awesome gains.

well guys I know this has been going on for some time.. there a few reasons for that... 1 being I was not living in florida for over a year where the car is, second I was thinking of selling the car but instead I sold my gallardo and third.. as time has passed... I have had more info surface about different tuners etc.. so the wait has been worth it to me, sorry if I have been taken up some of your time with my questions...
To answer your question, they are not all the same. AWD Motorsports uses a 7 blade design and clips the turbine wheel, Blouch uses a 6 blade. I don't know which is better but they should deliver similar results.
As I see it (others may disagree), you really have 4 leading candidates for this (alphabetical order):
911Tuning/Protomotive
AMS/EPL
AWD/EVOMSit
Switzer
I'd call around, speak with the shops/tuners, learn exactly what they change (and what they don't) in the K16 turbo, see who I was most comfortable with, who I could get local support for, etc., and go from there. Should be a stout upgrade regardless... good luck and enjoy.

I can tell you on our dynojet with intake, exhaust and tune they make about 530-540whp which is right about what a 997tt makes with the same mods and stock turbos..
Also, Our turbos are 3mm larger than AMS,, I haven't had the others in my hand to measure..
