TT AWD H&R Spring install help?

I'd like to put H&R Sport springs on that reduce the ride height by about an inch. I have the springs, a spring compressor, tools to separate the front strut nut from the shaft, jacks, etc.

I'd like to know the easiest and most straight forward approach to removing and replacing just the springs. I have no instructions. Will I be able to remove the springs from the struts without removing the struts first?

Any help would be much appreciated. I've seen pics of removing struts from a C2, but it's not quite the same with front axles that limit the amount the hub can be dropped.

TIA, Nick

nope you can't

i have an 03 c4s and its pretty much the same

you have the remove the entire strut to change spring

from what i remember when i did last year

front:
remove wheel
remove calipers and zip tie them
remove sway bars and drop links from strut
disconnect drive shaft from diff
remove top 3 mounting bolts
disconnect brake sensors from strut
remove the strut bolt from body

the hardest part is to remove the strut from his hole
you have to pry down your hub and rotor with your foot and pass the strut under the fender, be careful it will rub, so use blanket
you will pass 1 bolt, than a 2nd and finally the third,
patience and strengh is the key lol

not the best explanations and sry for english mistakes, but you got the stuff

as for the rear, pretty much the same thing

i had to use a big piece of wood under the hub to be able to remove the bolt from the rear shock

good luck and dont forget you need alignement after

offtopic:
i installed bilstein sports and h&r spring by myself, took lot of times for a first timer job, but im sure you can do it

last week, ive installed bilstein and eibach kit on my dad's cayman s, and i will remove them cause i just bought him jic coilver, couldnt pass this deal lol
almost same procedure

porsche are nice to work on, always a pleasure to mod them by yourself

If you want the repair manual that you can reverse engineer on how to replace springs and struts, I can email it to you. I only have it locally on my hard drive and it's 44+ meg.

Somewhere I have the actual good instructions from somebody that did it, but I can't find them for some reason!

Guys, please let's all just get along!

I appreciate you all trying to do anything to help me and any others that are reading this to do a job. Like anything else, there's more than one way to skin a cat and it's up to the person doing the task to decide which is the best and easiest for him.

I thank you both and I welcome any other ideas. I have a lot of mechanical skill and wrench for a living, mainly scratch building custom motorcycles and hot rod motors. I don't enjoy wrenching on my own vehicles in fact I actually can't stand it, I'd rather be hiking or climbing or riding my GSXR.

But the kicker is I'd rather wrench on my own stuff than pay way too much to have someone else break several things along the way and end up doing a poor job at that. Happens everytime, from an oil change on my Jeep, to the Lexus dealer do a warranty fix on the old ladies cage.

Peace!

Thanks, I have the 996TT service manual that I downloaded from this site, but maybe I looked in the wrong area. I didn't find any helpful info there as to a step by step disassy.

Is what you have different?
