Anybody Else Seen The New Aston Martin?

I was at the petrol station today, and a guy pulled up next to me in the new Aston Martin

Has anybody else seen one yet, and if so, what did you think of it?

Companies like Aston Martin don't have the big corporate structure to hide behind when it comes to fuel economy standards. A bunch of VW Lupos more than make up for the gas guzzling Lamborghinis, but Aston Martin just makes Astons, so they need a little efficient car to balance things out.

I don't know if that makes up for the fact that it'll lower Aston Martin brand value.

I gues they have to do what they have to do, but that is the second dumbest looking car I have ever seen, next to the Smart Car.

What do you think of the Cygnet compared to your IQ?

Personally, I think the Toyota is a pretty funky/fun car

I think it is a car which exhibits who Toyota are, and what they stand for as a company

I think the look, style, feel of the car is very much that of a Toyota

To me, Aston is all about hand beaten bodywork and hand stitched leather, etc

If they feel this isn't working for them anymore, or if they want to reach a different demographic then so be it

But, to put their name on somebody elses work is (in my eyes) just an embarrassment

I certainly don't see it as a positive for Aston Martin

On the flip side though, this is a massive pat on the back for Toyota to be recognised and approached my a company with a reputation/brand like Aston have

Having said that though, I doubt it really makes much of a difference (besides bragging rights) to a manufacturing giant like Toyota

Its a great little car, very cheap to run. I have only had it for 6 months but will be selling it shortly for something a bit bigger. As far as the cygnet goes, its probably the most reliable car with an aston badge. The only reason aston has this car is to meet upcoming eu regulation about average emissions over the product range, their is rumours ferrari will be rebadging fiat 500's but then fiat does own ferrari so it makes sense

That's very interesting about the emmissions thing - I hadn't heard about that

Still not sure they can justify the price tag though

How does a retrim and some big wheels make the car worth £30k

I like what you said about reliability. A couple of my friends had bought Astons ( one a DB7 the other a DB9) we all thought they were built like tanks. The workmanship was amazing. But the reliability was quite poor

The only reason anyone buys the cygnet is because they are trying to ofset their carbon footprint. Drive the cygnet all week and v12 on weekends. On the subject of reliability, a friend of mine has had a few astons, porsches and ferrari. He thinks aston are the second most unreliable car in the world. tvr is 1st. Also they are not nearly as fast as their porsche or ferrari counterparts. Only plus is stunning interiors. My favorite interior would be aston martin rapide, truly stunning and worth the money just to look at
