Track PSM effects TT vs GT-2

I am considering a GT-2 intead of a TT. My biggest concern about the TT is the PSM interfering, even when switched off, because I understand that it will reengage under certian slip and braking condtitions.

For anyone with experience, is the PSM a problem even when turned off? How much more fiun is the GT-2 at the track?

Thanks.

it really comes down to personal preference. For me RWD and AWD are not even comparable in terms of fun. The feeling of sliding out the rear end on a RWD car just cannot be matched.

Switch

I wonder how hard it would be to change the drivetrain from AWD to a GT2 type setup? Has anyone done this?

I know the front wheel drive can be disconnected for dynoing in 15 mins (said by my shop), I also have heard you can leave it like that no problem....
The wieght of the AWD would still be there tho....

I think that the situation has to be pretty much FUBAR before PSM will reintervene. I can drift the car quite nicely with PSM off. And some professional "drifter" was able to get Chad's car sufficiently sideways to lay four nice patches of black tire marks down the road. (I suppose he could have had his PSM disconnected? Not sure....)

Dang, I was hoping for a ltittle more definative response. While at the track, does PSM interferre once it is shut off, or like Racer63 says, you have to be all bent out of shape and then you will appreciate the help?

I just ran my tt at the track with PSM off and had no intervention at all. With 600 hp and the right setting on aftermarket swaybars you can get the tail to hang out even with AWD!! Nothing quite like smoking all 4 tires either!!

If you turn it off, it won't kick in under power, but will kick in
during braking if necessary, to keep you from spinning. As
soon as you're off the gas, it's gone again. It's a good thing.

Tim -

I don't see how intervention under braking could be a bad thing. The only place that you can make up time without PSM is under throttle.

Donn:

I thought that once the PSM turned itself on, you would physically have to turn it off again. Am I correct? Or, does it help you and then turn itself instantly back off?

If so, way cool, I can then say oops when the light comes on instead of playing high speed lawnmower, or worse.

It does the good thing. If you turn it off, it means
'no PSM except during braking'.

Was it coming on? Actually intervening in a lateral direction? Or was it just indicating that ABS was engaging as you approached the limit of adhesion in a fwd direction?
