996 TT boost level ??
996 TT boost level ??
I went out on the highway to see how high i could get my boost bar to go up!! i was able to manage 0.8 bar at 6,500 rpms!! i think that is roughly 11psi !! is this a significant amount of boost or is it running to low ?? the check engine light is on and it doesnt feel like it has that turbo pull like it did before!! what psi does the evo 700 -750 kits push??

hey stephen is it fairly easy to get to the ECU? My car is running 1.0 and it's not X50 and the dealer is pretty sure it has a chip and I sort of want to find out what kind it has. Is ECU removal pretty easy or should I stay away?
(p.s. the dealer never checked so they can act like its not there)

Stock non-X50/non- Turbo S should pull 0.6-0.7 bar with stock intake and exhaust. When you let off the gas (with any turbo of any make), you'll see more as the pressure goes through the diverter valves (or BOV). X50/Turbo S should see 0.8-1.0 bar, and GT2 should see 1.0-1.1 bar.
If you're seeing 1.0 bar the car could be chipped, or you could have a leak. "Feeling" less power is a common complaint among turbo owners after about a month, which is about how long you've owned your car. Maybe you're just getting used to it, but get it checked out anyway.
All Porsche Turbos (standard/X50-S/GT2) are somewhat detuned from the factory, with restrictive intakes and exhausts and low-boost turbos. The car can reliably move more air, and run 1.1-1.3 bar on stock internals.

ttgangsta it is really easy to get to. It might be worth it to take a look in there so you know what you have.

It is bone stock. I run 93 octane here in Chicago. Is something wrong with my car?
