"the beat down"

He did have headers and exhaust, so we both were slightly mod’ed.

An NA motor just sucks at this altitude. That's why my Viper is getting a Turbo conversion ...

When I was running 600 crank HP I ran a new Viper. It was hard to pull him. I did on a roll about a car and a half to two cars. I was shocked I couldn't get farther out on him. They are not slow.

I agree. Despite what the mags say, I don't think a stock turbo would be even with an SRT 10. An X50 may be closer, but, honestly I still think the Viper would win out. I drove Shank's Viper when it was stock and from my butt dyno, it felt stronger........ Hell I raced a Viper GTS with headers and exhaust when my car had the Evo Stage 2 and he beat me!!

Actually, I dun' call bull**** here. The cars are close enough that it's anyone's race. I took a Viper with my '02 turbo, 45-160mph, by 1 car length. A modded LT-1 Vette took both of us.

At sea level, stock vs. stock, he would have taken you down.
In the real world, there is almost ALWAYS altitude loss for an NA car - heck even Pacific Coast Hwy in CA is at least 50 ft up - more to the point "at sea level" is a huge qualifier, many of the "flatland" areas are actually 1000+ ft elevation (3-4%) loss, and actually, a properly set up turbo does not lose any HP until its pre-set altitude (turbo overspeed) limit, which is 8000 ft for the 996TT, there is, of course, MUCH more lag since the turbos are spooling to a much higher RPM to pump the thinner air......

I drove an SRT-10 in Phoenix in 95 deg heat and I thought it was a slug. I couldn't get much acceleration and when I tried, the tires just lit up in smoke.

Lou,
was that the race against Walker's car when we all first met (back when I had my truck still)??
If so can't always judge by that car. You could put Walker in a Festiva and he'd still probably win.....lol

Well wont a modded turbo take a viper even if it does have 900 hp? Just ask Hershel and Shank what happened when they raced. Although I guess that was a Cargraphic!!!!! modded Turbo.

Well I guess that is for Shank to answer then.

I will say that a 900rwhp Viper will not lose a street race to many Porsche 996 TT's.

I am unaware of a Cargraphic package that would have the ***** it would take to pull a TT Viper. How much power is Hershel putting down??
