Why Doesn't Anyone Fill Their Licence Plate Holes Permanently?

Just thinking

Over here we have to put front and rear number plates on our cars as stated by law

I don't know what the law is in the US, but I know a lot of cars here don't have licence plates

How come people choose to put plugs on the front bumper as opposed to filling the holes in permenently?

Thanks

Here in the US, most states have that law also. MOST people don't abide by that law either, BUT when you get caught, (at least here in CT) you have to mount the front plate back on the car and go to the DMV and get it inspected, as well as pay the fine. It's easier to just unplug a couple plastic bumper plugs on your way to the DMV.

I've now seen a couple of cars with a front license "sticker.". Literally a decal on the bumper that looks like their front plate (same size and color as an actual plate). I guess it won't satisfy those who don't like the look, but it's a good solution for those cars without factory bumper holes. One guy said that the decals aren't legal, but the cops think it's so clever that they accept it. Anyone else seen this?

Haven't heard of this, but it seems like a decent idea. I am sure there will still be plenty of @#$%-cops that will hammer you for it if they get a chance.

i had the holes deleted when i got a new bumper and had it re-sprayed, just did it again when i got a new bumper for my carrera

Heck yeah.. they hammer you just because you are "better" than them kidding, but honestly, I'll gladly pay a fine so I don't have to drill into my bumper.. can't stand that wrecking of a nice front end on a high end whip.

I didn't have the holes put in when I put a GT2 front bumper on my Turbo. I didn't think about the fact there's no tow hook hole though! I might have had them add one of those.....

I haven't run a front plate in at least 10 years. I've probably paid $1000 in tickets in that time for it.

Yup -- like that. Except the ones I've seen were Washington and California State license plates. Looked like the real thing -- except it was a decal/sticker on the bumper.

Why wouldn't there be a tow hook hole?

There is a plug in the bumper that covers the tow hole.

i doubt anyone notices things like that when they are staring at a 911 turbo they are about to buy, prolly wouldnt affect any buying decisions even if they did notice
