Any tips on how to create an ipod connection into my 996TT radio? It is the stock porsche radio from 2001.

I may no rember this correctly but I don't think 01s have the MUST bus. Pull your radio out. If you don't have the remote CD, you should find a standard set of inputs back there. If you do you can unplug the remote CD and plug in your iPad. You will need a Y adapter...

 

TPUP is right about the 01 not having a MOST system. I have a Harman/Becker wiring harness (same company that manufactures the Porsche head units) that I never installed in my 03 C4S. It connects an ipod (MP3) or telephone to the CR220, CDR220 or Traffic Pro. It has the instructions, two RCA cables (one for the MP3 and one for the phone), connection block and the keys to remove the radio from the console. Works well and won't break the bank. If you have a cd-changer, this will replace it as it uses the same connection on the becker radio.

 

There was a member here who was making them a few years ago... I bought one for my car, and it functioned identical to the one listed by redliner911. The thing I hated about it was that it wouldn't function with any of my iphones. So I had to use a NANO, which was OK since I already had one, but if you don't, then you'll need one...

Worked well, but you had to do everything from the ipod, as it doesnt allow the head unit to control the device, for obvious reasons... Better than CDs, that's for sure!!

Junk the whole system and start over with a double din unit. Modern Ipod on screen interface, blue tooth, and voice nav. Porsche has always put really substandard sound systems in their cars.
