How to replace your Alternator - DIY with pictures
I bought a new Ultima Red top shortly after I bought my car. I has charged from time to time, but also seems to get really low sometimes and I have been supplementing my charge with a battery charger while trying to figure out where the problem was. Last week I figured I'd just get a new alternator and be done with it. I bought the new one from Autopartsway.ca for about $400 + core. I have seen the odd DIY on alternator replacement, but none with pictures. The following is how I replaced mine - I hope it helps someone...

I used this instructional to install my new Alternator, went really smooth. Let me add that it's easier to turn the black bolt on the bracket attached to the tensioner pulley than to turn the pulley itself, and you can turn it much further. You can also just remove some of the belt and not all of it to make for easier assembly.
May I ask why you remove the mount for the positive terminal? Is it for more clearance?
Thanks again.
