Headlight Washers

Has anyone seen it work... how is it activated... I just realized that in all this time that I've owned the car, I never bothered to check!

Does it happen on every pull, or every few pulls like our MCS? I assume the cap pops up to reveal a jet spray. Learn something everyday... thanks! BTW, not sure if you got my PM, but I'll catch you sometime this week.

Push foward on the stalk with the lights on and they will activate.

Headlight Washer Reply

I am not allowed to post a reply as yet.
However, I just had some experience with the headlight washer on a '03 TT. I tried using my headlight washer to make sure they worked. To use, one must push the stalk away from you with the headlights on. When I did on my car the headlight washer worked. They poped up and sprayed. However, after spraying they did not return to a flush fit with the car. They stayed deployed about an inch or so above flush fit. I parked the car in the garage and when I looked in the morning the headlight washers were now fitting flush as they did before activation. The tech at the dealer made this note in repairing the problem.

Headlight Washer Cover Retaining Tabs Ineffective.
1) Replaced Headlight Washer Cap
Part # 996-628-144-00 Washer Nozzle

In general, I think headlight washers suck. I never use mine because they really dirty the rest of your car just to clean the headlight.

It'd take me 2 minutes MAX to wipe the headlights down, but maybe 1 hour to wash my car after using them!

Lucky the Porsche lets you decide if you want to spray the headlight washers or not. On my M3, they spray AUTOMATICALLY, so I'm forced to turn off my headlights before I spray my windshield!
