It would be interesting to see 60mph-1000ft or so to give a better indication of a roll race outcome. I've been comparing my times against a few buddies and about half the time, the quicker 60-130 car would actually be behind the slower car in a race. For instance my GTR was much quicker 60-110 than my buddy's viper TT, but his car was so fast 110-130 that his 60-130 was .2 quicker. However, when you overlay the graphs, the GTR was still about a half a car length ahead of the viper by the time they both hit 130 - granted the viper was gaining but hadn't closed the gap by 130.

Another very good way to determine roll race ability is to look at how much speed is gained on the back-half (from the 1/8th to the 1/4) during a dragstrip run. For example, my car picks up 40 mph on the back-half, which is very atypical for a GT-R (most pick up mid-30s, at best). This makes my car an absolute monster from a roll, relative to the power I'm making. I beat a S1000RR 3 times in a row from 50-160 or so, which is a feat normally accomplished by GT-Rs making well over 1200 whp.

The 1/8th to 1/4 gain isn't universal though because not all cars are starting at the same mph. For example, your car may gain more mph than Omega, but Omega is going a lot faster at the 1/8th which translates into less time to accelerate.

Thanks. My point is how much you gain on the back-half relative to your overall trap speed may show where your car is strongest relative to it's power level. It mostly rings true, but of course nothing with cars is universal.

So you want a 60 MPH start speed, and 1000 ft later trigger for end of race? 1000' sounds too soon, that's less than 1/5 mile. Most roll race events out on the left coast are either 1/3 or 1/2 mile.

Let me think about that for a few days and I'll see if I can add these types of roll races to vboxtools.com. Here's what I'm thinking, see if this sounds about right.

40 MPH to 1/3 Mile
50 MPH to 1/3 Mile
60 MPH to 1/3 Mile
40 MPH to 1/2 Mile
50 MPH to 1/2 Mile
60 MPH to 1/2 Mile

lol.. leave it to you to say that

60-130's mean nothing to compare 2 cars - Waay too many variables. Its just a fun way to test/gives a reason for WOT runs in between actual track outings

but nothing beats head-head competition -

Member Emre@ESMotor has sent over data on their shop car. A 991 Turbo S with only headers and and X-pipe using stock cats. The run is a 7.23s 60-130!

Congrats Emre!! That very quick for a nearly stock machine!
