Again, this is just me kicking around ideas and getting feedback from my friends on here whose opinions I mostly respect.

Take the Explorer when you have more than one client, and leave the Turbo for your wife.

She refuses to learn to drive a manual too.

If you'd go and buy two brand new cars, you'd still lose money in depreciation. The question is, how much more would you lose on the turbo and how much is enough to justify selling the Porsche?

The only 'brand new' I'd buy is the Elise, and those are holding values well now.
The sedan I'd get used almost for sure. I don't want to buy brand new anymore if I can help it.
The A4's I'm looking at are in the low 20's now. Some nearly 21K even or so. The TL is still close to sticker for used, but you can save about $4k off sticker with 10k miles, etc.
Anyway, you're right, you always lose money when you do any car deals.
It's sounding like when you sum it all up, my best bet is to just buy a very inexpensive but presentable sedan.
It doesn't have to be fast or anything... just presentable and nice.
I've even considered just renting a car on days I know I'll need to do this. I figure if I'm about to spend 20-40k on a sedan, that could rent a lot of cars for quite a while. Then I'd drive the Turbo every other day.
A4 is NOT a good option for hauling clients around - the back seat is almost unusable if the driver is 6 feet tall.
I'm in the boat you are - two cars for two different things, and I'm happy I did it that way. I was going to get an RS6 originally, but then decided I could get the two for about the price of the one, and it was a no-brainer for me.

(Like Kramer's friend)
Thanks for the heads up. Yet another car I need to look at closer. All my shopping has been via the internet to date.
Except for the TL though... that one I drove the other day with my wife and I fit fine in the back seat. That's a very nice car! (The '04 and '05 I mean)
How much are the ´98-99 E39's now anyway, like 20k? You might want to look into one of those.
Selling one car and buying two is a lousy way to cut down costs.
Keep the Turbo Scott, you know you want to

To reiterate, I'm not really cutting down costs... just increases cars w/o spending more money.
Is that cutting costs... maybe it is... hehe
I'm pretty sure I'm keeping the Turbo... this thread has really helped me work out the evil thoughts put in my head earlier today.
why don tu just buy a scion xb or a used cheap sedan or any vehicle that is automatic// ...
the xb it can be had new for 15k... it has a lot of interior room, cheap on gas, and has good toyota quality.,... if u have any clients u can use your wife's explorer and she can drive the spare car. ie. scion etc....
keep the turbo you'll regret it....

dzy,
Wow would I feel old in that thing. hehe
barebones, I don't think my wife would be caught dead in the scion, but your thought is a good one. I may look into something like that too.
I was actually considering a Ford Escape. '02's can be had for 12k-14k.
