Sweet Sound

My dealer told me he could do a few things to the stock 996 turbo exhaust to get a better sound. Any thoughts?

i have heard of this but don't know how interested to be. the exhaust issue has been addressed a number of times in the past. there are some great threads if you do a search.

if memory serves, the three to ones are:

europipe
techart
fabspeed

many others are mentioned frequently (LSM swears by carghraphics) but that aside, i would listen to them on peoples cars (in and out). take your time and make sure you get the one you want. why, because the dealer may not be able to guarantee the sound you want.

i went for the europipe stage 2 loud. the only thing i can think of to do to make the car sound better is to swap in a carrera gt motor with the STOCK exhaust

they probably mean to open it up & gut it out. depends on what u expect though. for sure it won't sounds like a 3k exhaust.

Scargo does this - they cut it open and alter the baffling. Not worth $2,500 plus your old exhaust though.

David Somethingorother from Virginia did it a while ago. Haven't heard much from him lately, but reports on his OEM muffler conversions were favorable.
