SpeedTech Exhaust cold start

I had a little extra time this morning, so I took a short, November morning cold start exhaust video! This is the 2.5 "Quiet" version...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR8Yorn8zl4

We did a cold start 3.0 "Loud" version video this morning, to add to this thread for a direct comparison...

Exhaust sounds great, but you rev it out like that when the engine's still ice cold?

And he has over 100K on it. I think we all baby the cars way too much!

Great sound John. I should get you a cold start with the 3.0. It sounds like a beast!

Yes, for the sake of a video, but it's not the first time. I have done demos like this periodically for friends, etc. over the life of the car. Engine has 115,0000 miles, oil is changed every 6 months or so (approx. 6,000-8,000 miles) and it only burns 1 quart every 2,500 miles, same as when it was brand new. Car has been modified since it was about 3 months old and has seen over 50 - 1/4 mile passes and hits red line every day it's driven, etc.

I think Nick is right - they can take a lot.

The turbos are upgraded and the car has FULL supporting mods, but it really does not sound mean in person - it's the cold start that is a little loud, but it subsides quickly to a pretty mellow sound level on the 2.5 version. The 3.0 is deeper sounding and more raw / aggressive. It sounds mean in comparison. We did some video today of the 3.0 and have a little editing to do. Didn't get a cold start though, as the engine was warm when we did the swap. Stay tuned for the 3.0 -

Thanks, Nikolas. I put a 3.0 on today for some video work and got a nice shot of the car shooting flames on the 3-4 shift at WOT! I plan to do the cold start video in the morning weather permitting (rain is moving in). I did a back to back video on the same road and you can clearly hear the difference in the systems - the 2.5 sounds more refined, yet very sporty - the 3.0 sounds just plain aggressive (and wonderful), like it means a lot of business!

We will have more footage available shortly after Thanksgiving day, finishing up filming next Wednesday and will edit during the holiday weekend. Its always cool to see a flame or two every once in a while...
