Anyone ever try this Ebay spoiler fix?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-996-...sories&vxp=mtr

He said the spoiler malfunction light will not go on because it senses the spoiler up. He said only one person needed to buy the wire harness to stop the dash warning. It sure is a cheap and permanent fix. Hmmmm?

Just installed it two weeks ago. Works great. Solid part. I picked it up for $150. Speed gallery did something where the warning light never comes up. Not sure exactly what but have not had a single issue. You may want to call Dan at speed gallery in studio city CA and ask him what he did.

How much labor is involved installing this item?

Does this item have to be extended or can it be left in the down position?

Labor is about 25min. You have to put it on and make hight adjustments. The screw is very log, I even cut mine by about an inch. The tail has to be in the down position before instalation. You can have it down at all times or up. If down you will need to cut the screw more so it doesn't hit your air filter or y-pip.

The guy that originally did these pieces which are CNC machined and look pristine is in Cali. Pm me for info, price was similar and i know many members have his piece. I guess someone copied LOL.

Nice to see there is a good fix for a good price. My light keeps coming on, but everything seems to be working normal. I'm just getting sick of seeing the light come on. I can't see anything wrong with my spoiler. No notable leaks and it moves up/down fast. I tried the WD-40 w/o help. I might try the lucas stop leak next.

you might want to try spray silicone, as the wd40 tends to collect more dirt/grime on the spoiler stanchion which can't help. i tend to give it a spritz monthly as a preventative, but who knows how long that'll last. i had to replace the unit in my last car but that was covered under warranty. this one won't be and i suppose it's only a matter of time

This kit actually uses the stock rams. The kit is very simply some bolts w/ unions that match the existing hyd. feed threads.Wish I had thought about it

I have it. He is a great guy to deal with and I don't think he copied anyone - the only one I have ever seen like this. This is not a replacement (always up) post. This is basically a long bolt that allows you to manually adjust the height.

Remove pump, and hydraulics. Drain, install kit. I leave mine up all the time since I drive over 75 more often than not anyway.

Does your dash light stay off?

The kit has instructions to disconnect wing position switches in down mode to keep the light off & has gt2 harness part number in case that does not work

BOOSTTT - My car spoiler light came on last week, spoiler would go up but would go down intermittently and would not go down with using the switch either. My problem was the up miroswitch under the on the right side attached to the right side hydrolic cyclider (under a place plastic cover) pop the cover off and check to see if one of the switches came unglued. This was the case with mine, applied some glue to hold the switch in place and it works just fine.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it is a cheap option compares to the spoiler/hyd. replacement but, and not to offend anyone, $170 for some bolts/flange??? I haven't really taken a look at this yet, maybe there's something more intricate than what I am thinking??

Also, for those that have the durametric cable, couldn't we use that to turn off the alert light for the spoiler?
