Aftermarket bumpers

So who out there makes the best aftermarket bumpers in terms of fit and finish.

I am new to the porsche world and I can not say i know what anyones quality is like. I want as close to OEM as one can get if there actually is such a thing in aftermarket. I am 196% fussy about quality and I would prefer it to be made from something other that fiberglass if it was quality plastic.

Techart are fiberglass right????

How are the techart bumpers????

Thanks so much for any input you can provide.

I really think the stock bumper of a 996TT is quite blah, it really does need something to Jazz it up.

Precision Porsche. Very good quality and fitment. Theirs (like most aftermarket bumpers) are fiberglass, not OEM polyurethane. They make a nice TechArt replica which I used for a few years without any problems.

+1 on precision porsche for fitment and look. The upside of their glassfiber product is the shape is excellent and doesn't "sag" over time.

Back when I shopped first time other ppl mentioned examples of duraflex type bumpers (which was also what I was looking for) that could become a little wavy etc... think there can be an old post somewhere here even. I checked a lot of pics and found the Precision bumper to be really true to OEM shape and fiberglass is also really easy to repair if cracked.

Thanks for the kind words fellas

Engine Guy, to answer your question, yes the 996 original techart bumper is fiberglass. I will say that all FG product (whether it's genuine TA or aftermarket) will require prep work. In fact, I will also venture to say that there were a couple of authentic parts that required quite a bit of work to make them fit well. If you are "196% fussy about quality as you say" I'll be honest and say that you should stick with an OEM GT2 bumper. Our parts fit great but require trimming and sanding to get it perfect (as will all FG parts)

Let me know if you have any questions/concerns.

Edwin

I can't get with the fiberglass or similar products. I'm sure they are made as best as possible given the material. But the PU bumpers just fit and look better over time and are a lot more durable. My factory PU spoiler lip has taken a beating with no damage other than paint. If this part was not PU it would have been broken beyond repair multiple times. Get the factory PU GT2 bumper and all the other misc parts even though they are stupid expensive.

I guess question # ????

Does the factory GT2 bumper fit the turbo like it would other than the fact that there are bolt on stuff that is different. I heard there are ducting opening issues but that did not get fully explained to me. If it is a direct fit then it is a no brainer to me.

Lots of small parts to get the GT2 bumper to fit "right" - but then there are lots of people who just put it on anyway. I remember reading a really good thread by a guy who did it RIGHT! I'll go search to see if I can find it again.

I have a TechArt FG and love it. I just like the look better and FG is much easier to repair than PU.
