What can I expect from CM stage 3 and a dual mass FW

Time to fish or cut bait. Need to have the clutch done this off season. Have the clutch, now I need the flywheel. After reading countless threads still a little confused. I'm leaning towards the dm flywheel as I enjoy my clutch feel now. Will pedal feel the same with this set up?? or will there be a drastic change? Trying to get this right the first time. TIA. Matt

I like my dual mass, with the CM setup (now). I have the stage "4" and it really sucked . . .till I did the GT2 slave conversion. I would do both at the same time.

oh.. and while you have it out do your inlet pipes as well!

I have the CM stage 3 and OEM dual mass flywheel and its not bad. it takes a while fo that clutch to break in. it doent chatter 80% of the time, but you have to be quick about getting off the clutch pedal...

You can first remove the booster spring from the clutch pedal and see how that feels....It just made a bit of a difference to get a little more feel and more livable......

What are you referring to about doing the inlet pipes while the clutch is out? I'm upgrading to a CM 4 and LWF after the holidays. Thanks

Is this something that can only be done while the tranny is out? My '05 has 20k miles, so is the inlet plumbing in need of a replacement? Thanks.

The turbo inlet pipes are a nice upgrade, and easier to do with the tranny out. The factory ones do not need replaced unless they are leaking.

Markski, evom, speedtech, USP all make some nice ones.

Do you know for certain the flywheel is need of replacing? I'm in the same boat although I have just started to do some clutch research. I'm hoping my FW is still in good shape. I may convince myself to go big while everything is out. Do inlet piping and also injectors. Let us know what route you go.

Hi,Most likely if you didnt abuse your car and replace the clutch before it starts to slip ,the flywheel should be find...Also if you put injectors in you will need a new tune and if your car is stock,I dont know if their is a tune for that???.....

IMO, when doing a new clutch you should replace the flywheel, unless it's real new. If you don't, there is a good chance after spending money on all the other parts and labor, your engagement may not be "like new" i.e. a bit of chatter, due to a new disk and older flywheel. It's a risk that I personally do not take, as I have seen it happen before...you are best to go with all new parts, for an all new clutch system. Then it's perfect when you drive away and everyone is happy.

I'm having a EVOMS Stage 1 clutch and GT2 Master/Slave put in my 996TT as we speak. The technician will be able to visually see if the flywheel needs replacing, correct? I've never personally seen a damaged flywheel, but it was my understanding that a good tech will be able to tell while the trans is out. My car has 22k mi and I was only able to get it to slip in 4th gear under full boost. I have no reason to think it was abused previously..

experienced tech should be able to tell you if your old flywheel is good
