Panamera Turbo Calipers?

Anyone know whether they could be fitted to our cars?

I think they'd look amazing - Not sure if there'd be any performance benefit though?

They have completely different mounting dimensions than the 996/997/991, and they use enormous (in size and weight) discs that would be a total waste on a 911 variant.

Additionally, the piston sizes are much too large.

Even if they could be fitted, they would be a huge performance detriment.

I was thinking about using the stock discs and just changing calipers

I've seen it done on a VW of all things - I'll see if I can find a picture

Just wondering what it'd be like on our cars

You can't just put any caliper on any disc. It has to be of the correct thickness and annulus (height of braking surface) at the very least.

If you were to put these on the stock discs, the pistons would move past the seals once the pads were worn, resulting in catastrophic brake failure.

Also the annulus width on the Panamera is greater so this wouldn't work anyway.

I know what you're saying

I think the Panameras are 380 or 390mm, and our cars are 350mm?

Not sure what the disc thicknesses or offsets are though?

I wouldn't have thought it'd be possible to fit them under stock wheels either, but it seems like anythings possible (with enough mods)

Disc diameter matters, as the caliper and pad shape is designed around the disc size. Using a caliper designed for a 390mm disc on a 350 would result in the outer edges of the pad overhanging the disc. This is a recipe for noise and vibration problems.

But the critical factor for safety I was talking about is the disc thickness. The Panamera is a 38mm disc, while the TT is 34mm thick. If the pistons move past the seals, it is game over.

I will virtually guarantee that the disc in the picture that you posted isn't anywhere near the thickness it needs to be to prevent failure when the pads and discs are worn. I just hope that they do not find that out the hard way.

Not everything to see on the internet is correct

For OEM Porsche parts:

996GT3 6-piston with 997TT discs
997TT 6-piston (non-PCCB) with 997TT discs

The above 2 are the same for all intents and purposes. There is a huge brake thread you can find on this stuff.
