I've been offered a fabspeed exhaust just recently, but the guy doesn't know which 'type' of fabspeed it is

The exhaust has one large silencer, and has 'GT2 TWIN TURBO' etched/stamped into the top of it

Anybody know the spec of this exhaust?

I'd be interested to hear what the pipe size is and what cats are on it - and also if it's one of the loud droney ones or not - I wouldn't have guessed so since it has the large silencer, but I'm sure someone must know better than me

I don't know anymore details than that just yet

Are there any questions I should ask in order to ascertain which model exhaust it is?

that system is VERY LOUD.....i hope that is what you are looking for..

 

can you post any pictures of it? i can ID it for you if you can...

when you say it has one "silencer" what are you referring to? we have a muffler bypass setup that is an x-pipe design and looks like this:

if it has cats and they are OUR cats it is safe to assume that they are HJS 200cel tri-metallic units, but again, without pictures it is all speculation.

Gen 1 for sure. Just like mine. I have the LOUD version . It is LOUD and it does have some drone between 2200 and 2500 revs. Lovely deep rumple, with gorgeous sputter, bubble and squeak (could not resist) I mean, a deep burble / gurgle and popping exhaust when you release the throttle and some serious roar about 4500 revs. Very loud at start-up, quietens down a bit when the engine is hot. Forget listening to the entertainment center radio, good for when you have an argument with the better half.

 

Are there different versions of the gen1? (loud and quiet) or is it just one loud *****?

Does it have 100 or 200 cell cats?

What's the pipe work diameter throughout?

What size tips are required?

Do the tips fit flush like standard, or do they stick out?

I think that is gen2. gen1 is one "cherry bomb" on top and on one on the bottom. Bank 1 exist on bank 2 side of car. you can easily see its two mufflers.

Well, IF you have Gen 1 (other folks seem to think you have Gen2 but I am not sure, the canisters look pretty well the same I think), mine have Cat 100, I have Fabspeed tips (check out my garage pictures, you will see which tips they are and how the stick out), they are basically the same size as the OEM version (same model - looks) . Can not tell you more.

Gen one or gen two, there both crazy, insanely, droney loud. But some guys are into that. for me there's not enough sound dampening in a 996tt to justify it. But I'm a bit of a whinney ***** when it comes to loud/droney exhausts.
I have a 2.5 speedtech xflow and it's perfect. Just right. But again this is just me.

 

Original Gen. 2 sport with 100 cell cats. Most power independently dyno tested by Imagine Auto back in the day. You will have resonance/drone with this system and if those are the original sportcats you might have a CEL. We can always swap the 100 cell cats for a new 200 cell unit (email or P.M. for price), but we will need those cores as they have a Marmon flange that we no longer use. About 2-3 years ago these exhausts were highly demanded and I saw a few sell for about $2,500.
