ROTtec GT3 seat installation - Fun times
ROTtec GT3 seat installation - Fun times
This may ramble as I haven't had much sleep.
I had been looking at several seats to replace my stock seats, Status, Recaro, Sparco and ROTtec. In the end I chose ROTtec because Ray answered my e-mails quickly, I wasn't thrilled with the mounting options for the other three seats, I wanted a carbon fiber shell and I liked buying from Canada because it meant no shipment hassles. The price didn't hurt either.
Two days after I finished my order the seats arrived. They were packaged well and there was only one issue with the seats, a broken belt loop in the headrest of one of the seats, I have just e-mailed Ray about it 5 minutes ago so I'm sure we'll figure that out.
The leather, suede and carbon fiber look great to me. If I had to pick one cosmetic issue it would be the belt loops, they are not the best but they are far from bad, if it bothered me enough I guess I'd just order the carbon fiber ones that Ray sells as an option.
Tonight I finally managed to start the installation process, I've read that some people had issues but I found it fairly straight forward, I made sure to test fit different bolt configurations and I found the way that works for me.
As for fit, I am 6'1" and a 36" waist and I am definitely the widest person that could fit in the seats, they actual are pretty much perfect for my waist size.
Tonight I managed to get the drivers side seat installed in about 3 hours, taking my time.
I still need to play around with seat height, I may lower the seat in the side bracket and possible angle it backwards so it has some lean to it, I will have to wait until I have more time to play with the different options.
I weighed them with rails and base mount at 28lbs each, I weighed the stock comfort seats at 56lbs with rails.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

The mounting hardware.

In order to clear the floor with the bolts that go through the floor mount you need to put the rear bolt as far to the front as possible.

Looks terrific! Could you please confirm that the comfort seats are 56 pounds per side with the stock rails, or is there a difference between driver and passenger seats? I don't think we have an accurate scale weight for the comfort/base seats on the Weight Loss thread, as only the sport seats were weighed there (hence my interest in the clarification). Congratulations on your seating upgrade!
Thanks, now I just have to wait for spring to actually drive in them, haha.
Ya no problem, I weighed the drivers seat at 56lbs and the passenger was 53lbs, the difference in weight was due to various electrical components on the bottom of the drivers that weren't on the passenger side. On the same scale I got 54lbs for the stock exhaust which seems in line with what's already been posted.

Thanks guys.
Nice looking seats. Congrats on the install. Hope spring arrives in Canada soon so you can take it out.
I just installed a set of Euro GT3 seats, BK harness bar and Schroth harnesses and really like how it all came out. First event in NorCal is in 2 weeks!

Thanks, I can't wait for spring. I wish I had a track near by like it sounds you do.
ARe you heading to the Friday instructor event at Thunderhill?
Nice Job. Updates the look of the interior too. I am considering this upgrade in the future. I am 6'2 and currently have to "drop" into my stock seats. How hard is it to get in and out of the car compared to stock?
Since it's winter here I still don't have much experience with them, I can just go into the garage and make car sounds while sitting in them. I am also coming from an Elise so I doubt these will be anywhere near as bad as that was.
