So I am just getting into the reality of what SPORTEC Switzerland charges for their pricing how about, 2,700 USD for this part (incl fitting of course) ? They charged a cool USD 55,000 for my engine rebuild

that is beyond insane. and it wasnt even a major engine build. your lucky that shops insurance paid for this, or else you would of been better off sending your motor state side to get it re built.

There is a 997tt on ebay for $59k!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-PORSCHE-997-911-CARRERA-TWIN-TURBO-TIPTRONIC-BLACK-NAVI-FINANCE-US-/180796798104?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2a18543498

I am surprised it wasn't specified as total loss when they realised it would be $55k to get your car fixed.

You all have not been to Switzerland recently. It is expensive!

But to put things into perspective I bought a new crate TT motor for $24K with a 1 year warranty a few years back. But that was here in the USA not CH.

Hmmmm yes and not only is there a $55K bill for the engine but outside of that they did a few other things which could not be billed to the insurance co, for which they presented me with a bill for a whopping additional $7,500 ($2,750 for fuel mapping + ECU retune, this I had agreed too) it was the rest I objected too, when I simply refused to pay it as it was, noting it was rather outrageous, their previous rather freindly behaviour, became somewhat hostile.

But you went to them they did not force you to do it. Why is it that after the bill you look up the engine upgrade cost and not before. I do not understand.
We all know that certain Euro tuners charge 2 times what it costs in US.. But then maybe they do it in a different way and to them it is justified.
