Alternative sources for X73 suspension?
Alternative sources for X73 suspension?
My luck.....
I got a quote from Gert at Carnewal back in Jan. Decided to wait til I had some car $ put aside. Mistake!
As of this A.M. Gert tells me Porsche has discontinued the X73 kits and they're no longer available.
****.
Anyone got a 2nd source?
Thanks!

Would rather not deal with adding drop links, top mounts, etc. I'm no suspension whiz. Less ***** the better!
Also read that Bilsteins don't fare well with much DE usage. Moton Street Sports (no reservoirs) seem next in line, but they're big $.

Bilsteins are awesome for street and track. you just cant lower the car a huge amount safely without risking hitting bumpstops. owever, you can lower a bunch more than X73 AND have a better street ride and better track performance.
I did my PSS9 6 years have had multiple set ups and run many track days without evarr an incident!

When I punch it in 2nd, the nose goes up so hard/high that the front tires are barely resting on the ground now. I really need to eliminate some of the squat.
Great info -- thank you.

Ttpopo- how much can you lower using Bilsteins without having to add additional hardware? I'm with vr4henry, and don't want to go down the path of having to start changing out a lot of additional hardware. Mine is stock, but I'd like to lower it a little to get it looking like it's settled in good. Just changing out the springs doesn't get the best recommendations on this board, so I may go Bilsteins; after also considering X73. Any suggestions on where to purchase, and PSS9/PSS10 opinions?
I don't have them but how about the H & R coil overs, no adjustment besides the ride height and around $2000 for the street and $1900 for the track ones. The only think that has me a little worried is you don't see much talk about them so I really don't know how good they are.

pss9's, pss10's, kw's the possibilities are endless here buddy no need for motons.
kw v3 you can lower below gt2 ride height or lift it up to jeep height. They come with drop links and only other thing I'd suggest is rear toe links with locking plates. DONE

Now I'm looking at PSS10s + GMG Sways @ X73 Ride height.
Still need drop links and other bits?

I ran at max lowering for years and numerous DE (using Gt2 alignment specs) without any issue.
I RAISED the car up last year to accomodate a more aggressive front bumper/nose and to reduce yearly lip replacement/repairs.
Also had the alignment spec dialed back a bit, less aggressive at the same time
Car is still awesome on track/DE and has a great street ride at the 30mm drop.
Sure theres better track oriented, fully adjustable suspensions out there, but IMO, the PSS9/10 is the best all round suspension kit.
Everyone has a different threshold and definition of bumpy or smooth. My car is mostly street car with occasional DE but I like doing things once and not having to change parts 16 times because it wasn't fast enough or stiff enough the 1st time.
I had the PSS9 prior to the X73. The X73 IMO is the better suspension compared to PSS9.
The PSS9 always felt undersprung and you had to make up for it by stiffening up the dampers. Benefits of the PSS9 were you can make the ride smooth and can make adjustments in ride height (although you can't go too low). The X73 greatly improved how the car handled. The height of the X73 is reasonable, I would have preferred a little lower.
Too bad Porsche discontinued the X73...
