New guy, rear spoiler question
You don't like the looks of the inside or outside. Did you buy it because it looks so good under it? LOL The spolier is for downforce. You may want to keep it, but many people put other wings on their 996's. Aftermarket does not suggest it is bad. The 996TT's engineers did a poor job with the factory spoiler's hydraulics. Just find one you like. There are many to choose from.......My interier also looks like brand new after 9 years. I think I'm in the majority when I say I love the way the 996TT looks. Lots of people stop me and photograph my car. Nearly every day, so I'm suprised you think it looks so bad.??????? Just curious. What car looks better to you? Why not buy that car? Just wondering?

I think you miss the point completely. You only read the part where I say "bad". I love the way car looks. I was asking a simple question. Why do most spoilers out there look like a double decker(Spoiler on top of a spoiler). If we stick to the point, I may stop hurting some folks feelings. I was talking in general when it come to cosmetics. That's what I do for a living. I make cars look good. Instead of re-engineering, I was hoping someone who's done it would give me some input.
Let me ask again: Spoiler - is there one that doesn't look like someone slapped on a spoiler on TOP of a spoiler?(I think I found a solution to this)
Interior - Do you folks just paint them? If so, do you use special paint. Our shop usually don't paint interiors. I could use exterior paint, but they don't hold up to constant touching/rubbing/fiddling.
So cut it out with, oh what did you buy the car crap. I bought it because it came from a reliable source with over 30k in mods in engine alone. It was a reliable daily 650hp+ car. Good deal, with little work to get it perfect.
I'm sure I'll get, why did you buy the car if you don't' like the way it looks again, so please read. Thanks for all who PM'ed me with suggestions.
Thanks, don't' like BS'ing around. That's the reason my customers keep coming back. I tell it like it is.
I have a Techart T1 spoiler here at my shop I'm willing to sell if you're interested. It's a spoiler that's a direct fitment for the stock hydraulic upper aerofoil on the factory decklid.
This is a picture of the spoler from another site, but I can take an actual picture of the one I have if you are interested. It's fiberlgass that I'm aware of and could be molded into the factory decklid given your line of work and skill. It's currently painted in what I believe they called Graphite Gray(FWIW I also have an OEM rear 2002 deckid as well if you need another to mess with)

Yes that spoiler will work on a cab.Back to the OP-The rear spoiler thing is really a personal pref..Myself I have the techart type and leave it in the up position, just my taste.Since you are in the car buisiness you know fiberglass never comes out right, even if it does initially-it moves/shinks over time.Maybe go back to a stock lid and disable in the down position ? As far as the interior I think most of the german cars have issues w/ their painted panels, they all seem to scratch & discolor easilly. What I did w/ mine was to remove the paint all together(shinnier blk plastic underneath) on some bits or you could go th CF route or just repaint-did have some problems matching the color though and used Wurth interior paint. Most of us have interiors that were well cared for,so maybe you just got that one off.Style wise yea there are better, but the 911 has never had a nice interior.Previous generations look like they belong in a beattle.Lastly when you are looking around for stuff don't be discouraged -the Porsche tax does exist as it does w/ vette's,viper's,ferrari's, etc. and aside from some common little things(except for the cooling pipe issue) are pretty bullet proof

How old are you guys??? Didn't know people were so sensitive.

What do you want to paint? My interior is either leather (dash/door panels) or CF. There are plenty of CF replacement parts available. Some do paint the center console (Check with Eric at bumper plugs.com for paint solutions.
Why not just get the ebay spoiler kit (~$150), replace the rams with it, and leave the factory TT spoiler in the down position? When its down, it doesn't look like the "biplane" spoiler that you dislike.
Just be warned that you will lose some downforce at higher speeds...the spoiler raises for a reason...

I like the functional rear wing, I think it's cool. Porsches have always had gaudy large rear wings. It's a Porsche thing. I fixed mine with PS stop leak and it works great.
The interior on these cars is basic. These cars are designed by gear head engineers. They are designed for speed as well as representing the 911 heritage, or "absolute dedication to the performance principle." I think that 130k is too much to pay for one, but I got mine for 40k, so no complaints from me.

Thanks for the input. For the price, I think I got a great deal. I'm just looking to spiff it a bit. I'll post some pics after I do some mumbo jumbo. I actually like the whale tale on the older models. Just not the double deckers.

Re downforce: Some on this forum purposefully remove the upper wing when making runs attempting speeds at over 200 MPH. A little less downforce on the rear at speed makes the car steer and handle better.
Regarding the interior. I believe you can use a flex agent on the plastic parts to help reduce chipping and create a good bond. Talk to your paint supplier for details. The body color looks good on the console and some dash and door panel parts.

wow, welcome. I think Porsche interiors look great fr a lng time. My 2001 just has some driver's seat wear, but the dash loooks great in full leather savannah beige and metropol blue leather. I cant imagine what you would paint in there...
