No power on a28. Whats wrong?

Hi, looking for some advice. I have a 2001 996 turbo. It has had new clutch, flywheel, inlet pipes, 60lb injectors, tial a2860 turbos, forge boost pipes, ap bov/recirc valve, 100 cel cats with 3" exhaust, ap/k&n induction and fresh oil, water and fluids. It has been in another shop for mapping. I got a call today saying, everything is going ok, at the moment its pushing over 400whp at 0.8 bar. Later i got another call. Ok, its all done but with one problem thats not identified yet. 1.4 bar 415whp!! Fuel reading 14 at tick over and high elevens to early twelves on an in gear pull. I said it sounds like something is pulling timing, maybe a blown maf. He is going to do some more data logging to see whats wrong.

Any thoughts? Tia

400 whp is way too low for those turbos in any configuration. Your mods should produce 600-650whp. You said it was being tuned, that is probably the source of problem (ie bad tune). The other possibility is a boost leak. A blown MAF generally throws one or more warning lights on the dash...

Tial 2860 is not the same as A28. They are significantly smaller turbos. They also came in 3 different version over time. Staring with journal bearings all the way to what I have which is ball bearing and water cooled. Which version do you have? That said, with the proper tune you can expect 500+ AWHP.

Ok, tuner said it is holding 1.4 bar and then dropping to 1.2-1.3 later in rev range. All fuel and air matches nicely. Im going to fetch it now so will see. He said it may be leak or maf. Spent alot of money for a car thats prob no quicker than a remapped standard car

the JB and BB were offered at the same time both had water cooling ports, easiest way to tell is a JB alpha doesn't have the oil drain re-drilled, where as the BB versions do

I also agree, the tune is off, or there is a major mechanical issue with the car

Im going to clean up the maf and take it for a boost leak test. That should have been done by tech but i think he was a bit of an ar$e hole and didnt bother

It sounds like the first step in the correction process is a new shop! Good luck with the car - it has the potential!!

Ok, got it back and first thing i notice is the bov/recirc valve sounds strange. I opened the engine cover and the bov had been tightened to max. It wouldnt open so would be giving a crap maf signal. I am also told my maf may be dirty and i should consider getting rid of the k&n and putting back to stock

Could this cause low power output by pulling timing?
