I was getting the turbo flat bedded to Porsche. When we went to load the car thdriver had us put the flat bed at the bottom of a hill and we put the turbo in neautral so it could build up speed to.get on the truck. Well he supposed to drive the car on but told me to do it. Well the car picked up.too much speed and hit the back of the cab of the truck. The damage.wasn't terrible but there are some cracks and i hope nothings bent and my lips destroyed. Do I have any recourse?

Let your insurance company handle it. If you used a 3rd party like AAA, call them up and let them figure it out. The driver should not have let you drive your car on the ramp.

I say call the tow company first. I have had an issue before and the owner was professional. We sorted it out. If he is not let him know you will contact the ins. and a lawyer. They still are responsible for our tow and this sort of thing does happen.

Good luck!

Driving up a ramp is one thing, but letting a broken car coast from neutral down a hill with no power brakes and steering onto a flat bed is another thing. I'm pretty sure more than half of us would be surprised how hard it is to brake a car once the power assist is gone.

Im not going to lie...this sounds like some dukes of hazard stuff. I can't believe that would do that. Why wouldn't they winch it on. That's what the tow hook is for.

Had a tow operator told me that I'd have said, in order:

1. Let me speak to your boss, and if no

2. Goodbye.

Since YOU did it, this makes it hard. Is it his fault for instructing you? or your fault for listening? and not doing it correctly??

If your insurance decides it is your fault, there is the deductible plus one chargeable accident. Damage wise, a bumper skin and paint is $1500 I am just WAGing.

Ahhh yeah, there are "do it your selfers" and there are "do it to your selfers."

One way men learn is by doing stupid things, if you could not roughly calulate the required energy to get the car on the flat deck without an excess then you really shoud not have undertaken the task without accepting some of the liability.

Now if he did it then it would be his responsibility

Thanks for the many replies. Unfortunatly its not an April fools joke. It's funny that dukes of hazard were mentioned cause the tow truck driver said the same thing. Obviously I feel like a dumb *** but I didn't want to drive the car onto the flatbed. he told.me.to. he made it sound like standard procedure for a higher end cars. This was though AAA so I went through them as opposed to the individual tow company (as they tend to be less than pleasent to deal.with). The driver admitted he is supposed to do it and even though I was driving, I'm not trained on how to operate a vehicle that is on top of a tow vehicle. If AAA doesnt accept the responsibility Im gettin my lawyer involved. If they say they'll pay for a new bumper and lip its GT2 bumper and carbon-fiber lip time!
