Cool Jeru and Duane hit the track

Here's a few preview pics with vids to follow.

I am going to get my mirror changed to "Object in mirror is passing you" LOL

My wifes gonna kill me if she see's this pic of the ride there.

My seatbelt was only off for 2 sec I swear!

Another shot of the ride there.

Cooling off before the first run. ;

It was all fun and games until Duane hit numbers low enough to get himself ejected from the park. Of course he did get warnings on his first 2 runs HeHe.
I'll let him have his bragging rights.. LOL

Let me just say it was a blast! I'll get the videos ready a.s.a.p!

My personal best was ok. Not what I had hoped but I think it will improve a little with practice.

I managed a 13.6 @ 99.3Mph

Heres the readout.
R/T .542
60 2.03
330 5.776
1/8 8.84
Mph 78.85 (Dunno what this reading means ?)
1000 11.447
1/4 13.63
MPH 99.93

That little highway off 95?? I was with my dad coming home from Cavalino Classic in his 575M, and we hit 172 on that road SO MUCH FUN!!! Deff. let me know next time you guys go up, if I don't have a car to bring I still wanna meet you guys, and see your cars.

Hey, not a Porsche owner here, but just stopping by. I guess it was Duane that me and my friend Tim talked to at Moroso tonight, along with his friend Jeru. Said I'd check out the site, and here I am.

I'm glad I got to talk to these guys, very very nice guys, very cool to hang out with during our arduous hour of downtime between runs. I profess to be no kind of expert on Porsches but the E/T and trap speeds Duane was cutting with little practice blew me away.

Both of your cars were very nice, they both look great. I wish I could've captured the look of the time booth clerk's face when I asked him if the Porsche beat the Honda it raced (some slicks/H22A stripped out hatch) and he just had this look of incredulity, and he just points to tech. "That thing is insane... I sent him back to tech! He ran high 11s!"

All in all, enjoyed hanging out with and talking to you guys.

I didn't really see Jeru run, I was talking to Duane during that time, as we had both parked our cars for the night. Nice times, though, for a mostly stock/stock (not sure?) car. I, myself, am a relative newbie at the drag strip and was struggling to hit 14.0s @ 100mph with my limited mods.

Duane's times are simply outstanding though, with a 1.8 60' time. I wish I could remember more, but I can't. Just amazing launching though, on that 25 series rubber.

EDIT: By the way, thats the Beeline Highway (Purple Heart), since someone asked.

I think this has been discussed ...

... a while back

from what I remember, you're not supposed to open up the rear lid for cooling off because the fan setup of the Turbo will suck in more air for cool off than having the lid open, the apparent fix for people who think the lid open is better was a compromise, having the lid slightly cracked open (e.g. - an oil container) so this way it is open and the fan is cooling off the engine??

I wrapped my headers with Thermo Tec carbide black exhaust wrap. Also wrapped the kats and expansion tank on the Europipe with the same material. The Europipe mufflers were wrapped with the Thermo Tec Aluminum Header exhaust blanket.

The fan rarely comes on anymore. This was true even at the drag strip.

Duane ran a 11.5 at 125mph yesterday. I ran a 11:33 at 126mph. I guess all these cars produce the same results at the track no matter what you do.....until the SuperGT2 is done.

Thermo Tec exhaust wrap

CJV
I was interested in your comment on the exhaust wrap. Is it something that I can do? Where did you get it? Type, benefits, problems?

The benefits are more torque, less turbo lag and lower engine compartment temperatures. It is easy to install, just take your time. You need to buy the wrap and the stainless steel ties or bands. Cost about $65.00. Make sure you get the black wrap, that way you don't have to paint after. I bought mine from the Speed Merchant in San Jose. Thermo Tec has a website which also lists dealers www.thermotec.com

All mechanical issues aside, he has MORE than enough motor there to hit 11.5. He wasn't even launching hard enough from what it looked like till the last run. He did excellent for a first timer, though, IMO.
