HSD coilover! Any good?
HSD coilover! Any good?
Since I am a dummy and didnt read about how crapy and unstable H&R springs are. Now im looking to upgrade to coilovers. I can get HDS type HR coilovers for 1050$ which seems retarded cheap. My autopart guy tells me they are amazing and just as good as most 3K set ups...
Anyone ever used them? know anything about this company? Dont want to have to redo my suspension set up 3 times in one year!
I would be fine with buying used PSS10 or something similar if anyone has!
thanks

op, your post has got me confused. HSD does not show that they even have fitment for a 996. Not sure what you are looking to do but any member here that does not get their suspension right the first time needs to learn how to use the "search" thing at the top.
Glad to see you're going the right route. You get what you pay for!
Why do you want coilovers? You can always look at the X71 option too as a cheaper but excellent alternative to coilovers if your car is just for street use.
The H&R spring is definitely not an upgrade on a Turbo. It's only an upgrade on a 996 C2 or C4.

The H&R street coil overs are a great choice for the street but the downside is that your car will end up lower than if you have the PSS9/10s. When installed at the recommended ride height as per the H&R instructions you will be right at GT2 ride height which may be too low for some. There is no way to go higher as the rear shock is the limiting factor. I've had both set ups and they are both great but the bilstein kits need to be set a little higher than the H&Rs to avoid riding the bumpstops. The x71 kit is probably the best best out of the box set up as Porsche put a lot of R&D into it but the downside is the fact that it is non adjustable.
