Recaro Sportster CS/alternative

Hey guys, I have fallen in love with these seats, but I'm not exactly crazy about their pricetag. Anyone know of a similar seat that doesn't carry a $2500 price tag? I really don't want power seats, my biggest thing is I want a seat that still folds forward because I do use my backseat on occasion. Maybe if I could spend a grand for a pair, or maybe 1,500 that'd be a lot better. Any suggestions? I really like the look of the recaro. I don't want something that looks like it belongs in a civic. Heated would be a plus, but not a requirement. Thanks!

Have a look at what Rottec has to offer (one of the board sponsors). They have several models that might get closer to your budget. GL and let us know what you go for.

I still needed folders also. I just ordered some rottec and will do a quick first impression write up when I get them in.

I have heard mixed reviews on Rottec seats. They do make a CGT replica seat that sound like what OP is looking for...

I ordered the folding version of the cgt replica. I happen to also have a cgt so I will let you know how close they really are.

Prodigymb - are the reviews posted somewhere? I'd love to hear what other people thought of them. What were the good/bad?

I'd rather not go repeating what I dont know as fact but over the past few years I have seen both positive and negative things said about the Rottec seats. I was thinking about getting a set of CGT seats from them but they are not cheap, nor are they approved for any race tracks.

$2,600 for the reclining seats from rottec. I know they are carbon which is cool, but honestly, if I'm dropping 2,600 on seats, I'm buying the Recaros. When it comes to the safety of your seat, and the quality, I'd rather go with a name that is known around the world, for their quality and safety. I'm not doubting Rottec, but for the same price, why wouldn't I buy Recaro. If there was $1,000 price difference, or even $500-$600 it'd be a contest.

Just a thought - Rottec seats are not FIA approved. But then again, I'm not aware of any reclining seats that are.

That being said, you you may need to check with Ray to see if his seats have had any type of safety testing.

Given that the CGT's are not much cheaper (I have them) I would go for the Recaro's which are road legal and crash tested if I had to start again

Just installed my new-to-me Euro GT3 seats with 6-pt harnesses and rollbar- wow, what a game changer. I also went with the Speedtech 3.0 and the car is completely transformed. Seats made a huge difference, and it gives me confidence to fly around Laguna this weekend that they are known to be safe.
