ABS Pump failure after Laguna Seca - has anyone experienced this? Possible solutions?
SubscribeAs per my previous post, my brakes failed after a 3 sessions at Laguna Seca Saturday. The failure happened after my last session when I went to the gas station and I completely lost my brakes and started leaking brake fluid inside the front trunk. I dropped the car at the mechanic this am and they indicated that the ABS pump is leaking. It is a Porsche independent shop and they are trying to determine if possible to repair the unit since it is $3600 new from the dealer
Has anyone experienced this and if so, any solutions other than buying a new unit? Any thoughts/ideas welcome.

All the info I got from the shop was that they found that the source of the leak was the ABS pump. These guys are pretty handy so I assume they tried any obvious fixes (eg tighten bolts). From the rate of fluid I was losing (~1 ounce for pumping brakes 3-4 times) and very little braking action, there is definitely something broken. What's weird though is that the ABS failure light never came up on the dashboard.
I need a better description. If it's leaking from one of the junctions, you may be able to drill and tap the module with a bigger tube nut. If it's the valves themselves, you're SOL.
I will take a look at it tomorrow and come back with an answer. The BEST price I was able to find for the freaking part was $2200 (that's just the part, not the repair - damn). I called around several dismantlers and no one had the module for the turbo.
my mechanic explained that the fluid is coming from the hole on the side (gold colored circle in the middle with tiny hole) and that therefore there is an internal issue. He said he will take it apart tomorrow to determine if there is any obvious issue that he can repair but that unfortunately he has not been able to find much info or a repair kit since apparently this is an uncommon failure. Any ideas welcome!
Bumping this thread as its super informative and seems like Turbo folks are starting to see issues on the original modules now. Looks like any 996/Boxster with PSM should have an ABS module with a hydraulic block thats compatible to be swapped over to the Turbo's controller.
You’ll want the block without the hole. See:
