that's good as it can't be done. no one expected me to live past 16 years of age, so not pinning/welding or jb welding my coolant lines hardly feels like pushing my luck. but to be risk averse, is different for each of us, agreed?

last time i was near 'em i dropped in a new clutch and was done. i never bought into this ( your ) scientific criteria that now places the failure rate at near 15% + or -.. if the motor ever fully comes out it'll go back in as a 3.8 w pauters and the whole 9.

so for me? coolant/schmoolant lol. i'd jb weld em and be done if i was too cheap to 3.8 the 'ol girl. that is absent this catastrophic failure a few have reported. also, all the more recent ( and highly prudent, i'll readily admit! ) track requirements to run water or show they've been addressed/retrofitted etc, also doesn't affect me.

i live on a race track and don't travel to get there ( don't tell anyone ) but it's an outlaw streak that began at ten yrs old when i got my first bike in '68 from bud ekins, ( who of course taught steve mcqueen to drive and actually jumped the "great escape fence jumping scene" ) and all the desert barstow to vegas 1000 miles races and any local SoCal desert stuff..so mulholland and its dirt is in my blood, as is the MRA. the unofficial street racing group out here.. i just moved toward the ocean for more room.

so,..if i get stoned, and sing all night long, it's a "family tradition".

so, you can see why coolant lines might be the last thing i'm really gonna give any kind of worry to. it happens or it doesn't.
follow me at your own risk lol

Car just had water pump and new clutch done prior to my purchase... Guessing I'll be doing them when I decide to pull the trigger on a 600+ K16 Hybrid kit of some kind. May be years down the road. Crossing fingers until then..

2004

25000

Heavily modified (900rwhp)

Pinned, preventative as engine was out anyways.

Pinning is fine. Exposed coolant will scab over creating a seal. Just don't want your car to dump all its coolant in one drastic event leading to other problems.
