Thanks Dan!!!

This should come in very handy during the TOD meet!! Only problem I see is that since I will be in the front, as usual (LOL) I will only have scenery recorded!!!!

The mount is first rate. The engineering and build quality doesn't need any improvement.

My pleasure Ken.

Just aim the camera to the rear of the car if you are going to be leading the group.

Let me know how the shock absorption capability works. This makes a big difference in final video quality. It looks like this is a relativly hard mount and that is rarely the best way for video.

Tim,
The shock absorber (red) is akin to a skateboard wheel although much softer. As I understand it, it is supposed to damp the high frequency vibrations. It has been my experience that these are the most troublesome. I shot a lot of video in my modified 280Z track car about 12 years ago. At the time, I hard mounted the camera to the rollbar and the camera shake was a disaster. It was great seeing the tricked out 911 pass me like I was standing still only to find that he spun in the next corner. It is all on video!! I think this material is a soft enough compound that it should work well.

Chris,
Not my car. i got the photo file from dan996tt.

Dan,
Point it rearwards, huh. Hmmmmmm, very interesting.

Ken:

You're right on on the high frequency vibrations. Let me know how actual footage looks and if it's good, I'll get the same unit.

I went with a bullet cam, and used the "remote" mount offered by I/O, so that very little weight is supported by the mount. The bullet cam output goes into an analog in on the DV cam, and the camera itself can be placed anywhere. No jiggles.

I thought about that too Bill. I was concerned that the video quality wouldn't be as good. Is it?
