I definitely prefer a good ol' dipstick. Unfortunately more and more new cars go fully electronic. Kind of annoying.

yes, even at idle it needs probably around 15 minutes before it starts reading something. It is annoying but it is a "normal" problem.

Agreed. Oil warms much slower than water. Take it for a 5-10 drive. The oil isn't warmed up enough.
