Thumbs up for Innovative Detailing headlight restoration

About a month ago, I had my headlights restored by Dave @ Innovative Detailing here in Socal. He did a great job! Spent about 2 hours of work on each light and then applied a new coating. The lights weren't in bad shape but definitely had a good amount of yellowing. Considering the new price of the lights, I figured I'd rather outsource this job. I'm very happy with the result and that's saying a lot since I'm "somewhat" of a perfectionist when it comes to cars . In case anyone else is interested, this is his website: http://www.innovativedetailing.com/

Very nice. Wet sand and buff method I assume? What type of coating went on? Like a clear bra or similar?

Yeah, I believe he sands with paper up to 3000 grit. The applied coating dries and bonds to the plastic on the lights. It's not like a Lamin-X type protection.

Exactly how I did it only started w 1500 grit to cut thru the damaged plastic. My wifes Audi TT came out quite nice.

I wonder if he used something similar to PlastX on the lights to protect them. I was debating between either that or a 3M laminate for when I do mine.

He said he tried some new product that gets really good reviews. I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem sharing what it was.

I did it once on our Mercedes lights . Working fine but those are much cheaper when you screw up

did you remove your lights and bring them to him, or does he make house calls?

I met up with him when he was doing a detailing clinic close to my house and dropped off the lights. He will come to you as well and the job can be done with the lights on the car. Removing them is better though; no risk of damaging your paint.

It's super easy to remove the headlights anyway. Just give him a call if you're interested; he's pretty flexible.
