New 710n diverter valves honking

Is this normal? The shop that put them in says yes. My old forge valves never made any noise and I'm thinking of putting them back in.

When do they honk? Is it only under boost or all the time? I'm hearing a honk at .1 bar, typically at cruising speed (75mph) only under slight acceleration. I'm wondering if I have the same problem.

They make a slight sound when releasing the throttle, but make a big honk or continuous honk as boost comes on. I took the car to the track this past weekend and at this one particular turn while on maintenance throttle, there is a continuous honk. I thought I read that honking diverter valves are a sign that they are bad, this set is brand new.

Sounds very familiar. I know that I have aftermarket DVs, but I don't know which brand. They appear to be black plastic, but I can't get a good description without removing hoses. I'm bringing my car to the shop on Friday to have it checked out. I'll let you know what they say.

my EVOMS units kind of honk when letting off boost, on my stock cab. To me its more of the sound of the air being diverted. keep us posted.

Larry,
The DVs should be silent. Something is not right. FWIW, I have the Baileys DV30 valves and they are silent and 100% maintenance free. No issues whatsoever....

2nd this.

Also is everything else normal? After my 710Ns went in I had some honking but was also losing boost/performance because a vacuum hose had popped off somewhere. Once that was remedied, everything else was fine.

This was done at a nationally known turbo shop so they should know better, but I will check it out.

post a pic of how they are installed. DVs honk if they are backwards, local VW kids purposely do it so they make noise.

this is what DVs sound like backwards...

That sounds like more of a whistle in the video. Mine sounds like a faint horn going off in the trunk. More of vibrating air that is constant. The sound I hear is when I give throttle, not when I let off the throttle.

I've got APR DV's and my car does the same thing. 1st or 2nd gear if i'm only building say .1-.2 bar there is a honk on acceleration and then it's silent as soon as I let off. But it doesn't sound anything like those videos.

To be honest at first I thought the noise was the rear tires rubbing on the fenders (the car is slammed) because it was this odd noise... not like a BOV or anything like that.
