Looking for thoughts on steering wheels..

I was driving my 911 down the interstate today and felt like I was handling a yacht. It is time for a new steering wheel, one preferably much smaller!

I was wondering what you guys did for aftermarket or if Porsche has an OEM? I don't have any controls on my steering wheel and my car is a manual, so it can be very simple. I don't care about retaining the airbag, but I do not want an airbag light on and I want the system to still work for the passenger.

I also want my shifter **** and parking brake to match. If it needs to be recovered, fine. If they sell replacements, that's good too.

I'd like it to be Black or Black carbon fiber. Thanks!

Almost got one from Macarbon but had to spend the money on cooling pipes welding instead ;-)

I replaced the anorexically (if that is a word.. lol) thin stock steering wheel w/ a 330mm Personal Grinta wheel (~$200) and a Bell Works hub (~$250)... it is perfect.

here are a couple pics...

It has no airbag, but the hub came w/ resistors to prevent the airbag light error...

I also like this:

It has the line at the top for those track days.

Check out Gert at Carnewal's website. He has a number of wheels with and without airbags I believe. I got his carbon/leather wheel with paddle shifting (I have Tip) but he has many choices for non-tip cars. Service and response was great.

Give these guys a call Amanda. They do great work and are very reasonable. I've used them before. They can take your wheel, add material to the inside to make it thicker and effectively feel smaller, they recover it, whatever your heart desires.

I went with the FVD Daytona GT 340mm steering wheel. The key with the smaller diameter steering wheel is to see if it will block your view of the tach, and that depends on your particular sitting height while driving the Turbo.

+1 Ivan's wheel. I have a thicker carbon fiber one for a couple of years now and it's still perfect.

Very nice. I am going to go OMP black leather with the yellow stripe to mark top center with a quick release hub.
