After long last, my deviated stitch RUF Steering Wheel has arrived! Installed photos to come.

That's a great steering wheel Al. I have the same one in my car. You're gonna love it. My only gripe is that I wish they made the horn to work by pushing on the center of the wheel instead of the tiny buttons which make it difficult to press in a panic situation. The shape and feel of it is dead on. Enjoy.

Good point about the horn. I was enjoying the video game style buttons but the emergency situation never crossed my mind. I can say that I'm salivating about triple honking those nice billet buttons in the near future against my buddy's Murcielago

You just have to keep that in the back of your mind because the natural reaction when someone unexpectedly starts changing lanes right into your car for example is to mash the center of the steering wheel trying to honk the horn and guess what, nothing happens. It can be hairy. Ask me how I know....

I have s similar wheel. You will get used to the buttons very quickly. People who test drive my car always try to push the center though....

Loving the color. Did ruf repaint it?

The color "Bugatti Strong Blue" is stamped on the front frame in the spare tire area under the felt since it was a special order "Paint to Sample" from Porsche.

It's totally awesome man. Especially the paint to order. If I ever order a new Porsche there is no way I won't paint to sample. If it was me I'd go with A28s and known tuner like GIAC, EVO, Proto or EPL. The Ruf 550 kit is so old.... I doubt the turbos would spool like the Tials...

Sorry just giving my honest opinion.

I think what Al is shooting for here is a full RUF conversion and not a RUF/GIAC/EPL concoction even if it means leaving a little on the table. Surprisingly, even though it's has been around for a long time, the RUF 550 Engine kit works very well and is very linear. Lag of the RUF K24 hybrids is minimal probably due to the larger intake manifold and intake pipes that are used along with the reworked waste gates. I've compared it side by side to a friend's K16/UMW car and I was able to get a jump on him right away and pull away pretty easily. At my local track on the long straight I've easily been able to reel in every Ferrari I've run with including an F430 and the new F458, and basically every ZO6 or Porsche I've run with. Of course you rarely ever see any mega hp cars at the track like some of the cars that guys own here. The one car I was basically dead even with was a 2011 ZR1 which I think has around 620 hp and thus leads me to believe that the RUF rating of 550 is fairly conservative. I do run a mix of 100 octane at the track and the car is RWD with LSD and about 180 lbs lighter than a stock 996tt for what it's worth. The one negative is that all the RUF stuff is pricey. When I bought my car the previous owner spent over $60K on the top to bottom RUF Rturbo conversion and I have to say it works together very well. Driveability is superb. Pretty much the way Porsche should have built it. You're gonna like it Al....
