BUTZI | The Thread
The Official BUTZI996TT Thread.
Intro:
Welcome. My name is David and I have been a Porsche enthusiast and have longed for a 911 Turbo for as long as I can remember. I come from a family of driving enthusiasts and professional drivers and mechanics, so cars and driving are really in my blood. After 32 years of hard work and dedication I purchased my 2002 996TT in April of 2012. Ironically, the day I purchased the car was the day that Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche passed away. In honor of the designer of the original 911, I named my car “Butzi”. That said, he has some big shoes to fill.
Info:
2002 Porsche 996TT | 6 Speed | Seal Grey | Black Leather | Carbon | Nav

1 bar WG upgrade

Custom 4.5" intercoolers
EVO diverter valves
Silicone hoses and lines
Custom 2.5" alloy turbo inlet pipes

Goals:
My goal for Butzi is to design and build a well rounded street car that is well built utilizing the best components and crafstmanship available. I want to keep it clean, make it fast and an all around amazing car to look at and drive.
Stay tuned for the transformation process and growth!
A couple of night shots:

KW V3 Install:
I want to throw a shout out to my friend Tim @ Endless Details in Orange, CT for helping me with the install and adjustment of the coilovers. Tim is a meticulous detailer as well as installer. He is one of the few people that I trust to work on my car with me. Thanks Buddy!

Set to just below GT2 Spec height. GT2 Alignment and corner balance next.

Rear Wiper Delete:
I want to take a moment to thank Todd aka Black Horse Turbo for taking the initiative to send me a seal grey wiper delete plug for FREE! Todd, you rock! Thanks so much for the help!

Thanks! I would like to get some more aggressive pads on it and do a track day at Lime Rock or somewhere local (I am in CT). Although I am not really into drag racing I would like to run it a few times to see what he does down the 1/4... The previous owner trapped in the 129's with poor traction and some misfires. I have since solved the misfire issue and would love to do a few clean passes in the car and see 130's.
Thanks! I have a set of HRE 542R's 18x8 / 18x11 for a clean street set up. I plan on mounting tires and fitting them next week.
I also have a set of CCW Classic Race wheels off of a 944T track car that I am custom building and refinishing for an aggressive street/track set up. More info and pics of the CCW's to come in the next couple of weeks!

Thanks again! I had a black plug in temporarily - the color matched one that you supplied really makes a difference. So Clean!

A side note: I used a bit of clear silicone when I installed my wiper delete plug to avoid water ingress. Car looks amazing my man! Great mod list.
solid list of mods. done right i would say ! how much power did it make on the fully bolted K16 billet setup?

Def more aggressive pads, I run PFC 08's front and 01's in the rear - great combo, change your fluid to a high boiling type, I run Castrol SFR and never had a problem with the stock 4pod TT brakes. curious as to what the misfires were??
The misfires were caused by a newer set of OEM 997TT Coilpacks. I was almost certain it was just fouled plugs, but it ended up being the coils. So after a few times in there swapping plugs and coils I got it running strong.
Prodigy - I am looking to dyno the car soon, probably after I install a free flowing 3" and a possible retune and race gas tune. I'll keep the thread posted.
On a side note, 170+ mph came quick and easy yesterday with the windows open (I wasn't planning on those speeds!). I love this machine.

I got a chance to stretch Butzi's legs last night. I did about 10-12 pulls with a few different cars including an E36 M3 Turbo, E60 M5 w/bolt ons, a couple of big turbo SRT4's and a fully built Evo. Butzi held his own. I prevailed over the M3 Turbo, SRT's, M5 and won a couple, kept with and lost by a car to the Evo. Overall I am stoked at the performance of the car and I had a blast!
Here is a video from the M5 chase car. The bike is a R1 with a 125 lb rider lol

Yeah, I've been itching to go with a catless, mufflerless 3"+ and do some other little custom pieces... Maybe bigger turbos next year. Oh boy, here we go.
Todd what are you currently running hardware/power-wise?
